In the MPV market in recent years, the performance of domestic MPVs has become more and more powerful. On the MPV sales list in April, domestic MPVs and joint venture MPVs have formed an even position.
1. Denza ranks first, and Toyota's sales of two cars exceed 10,000
With the advantages of the DM-i hybrid system, the DENZA D9 has made a big splash in this year's MPV market. In April, the Denza D9 topped the monthly MPV sales list with 9,557 units.
However, Toyota's MPV with planetary gear blessing is not far behind, with the Grevia 6889 ranking second in sales, and its sister car GAC Toyota's Sena also achieved 6309 units.
The combined monthly sales of the two Toyota MPVs exceeded 10,000 units, which shows that Toyota's brand value and reliability are still recognized by many consumers.
But at the back of the list, some high-end domestic models seem to be constantly eating away at the living space of some classic MPVs.
2. Sales of GL8 shrank, and GAC Group made efforts in a variety of models
In previous years, the mid-to-high-end MPV market was almost entirely dominated by the Buick GL8, but the Buick GL8, which sold 11,028 units in October 2023, will only sell 5,192 units in April 2024.
At the same time, a number of MPVs of GAC Group squeezed into the top 10 on the list, and the Trumpchi M8, as an MPV model that has been sold for many years, achieved sales of 5,114 units in April. The Odyssey, a classic model that overtook Honda, was in fourth place.
In addition, Trumpchi's M6 and E8 PHEV models also entered the top 10 on the list. Dongfeng Group's VOYAH Dreamer PHEV and Lingzhi ranked eighth and ninth, respectively.
However, in contrast to the soaring performance of other domestic MPVs, the weak performance of other domestic pure electric MPVs is the weak performance.
3. The pure electric MPV is cold, and the ideal MEGA sales are cut off at the knees
Although pure electric MPV has the advantages of high level of intelligence, good driving quietness and large space, its mileage problem often bothers some car owners.
This may be a big reason why the sales of pure electric MPVs are not good. However, Xpeng and the ideal senior management may have misjudged the situation, believing that the battery life can allow many consumers to dispel the anxiety of the range.
However, judging from the MPV sales in April, the sales of the Xpeng X9 and the ideal MEGA models are not ideal. After selling 3,946 units in March, the Xpeng X9 sold only 1,959 units in April.
The Ideal MEGA is even worse, selling only 1,145 units in April after selling 3,329 units last month, which is not enough to describe the tragic decline in sales.
Perhaps the Xpeng X9 with a maximum range of 702km and the ideal MEGA with a maximum range of 710 can consider launching a long-range version in the future, and perhaps a range of more than 1,000 kilometers can make some owners who are worried about the lack of battery life more at ease.
