To this end, the Shenzhen Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminds that there are huge food safety risks in the consumption of wild mushrooms, and a little carelessness will endanger life and health. The identification of poisonous mushrooms requires the use of professional instruments by professionals, and the public should not trust some unsubstantiated claims spread by the people or the Internet. The only way to prevent poisoning from poisonous mushrooms is not to pick, buy, and eat wild mushrooms.

The mortality rate of poisoning of wild mushrooms is high

The climate in South China is humid, there are many kinds of wild mushrooms, and many poisonous mushrooms are similar in appearance to edible mushrooms and are difficult to distinguish, which is very easy to be eaten by mistake and cause poisoning.

In the wild, non-toxic mushrooms are often mixed with poisonous mushrooms, which are susceptible to contamination by poisonous mushroom hyphae, or partially epiphytic on poisonous plants and contaminated with toxicity. Therefore, even if the mushroom is drug-free, there is still a risk of poisoning.

After accidentally eating poisonous mushrooms, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur; or mental symptoms such as hyperactivity, mental depression, confusion, and hallucinations; and severe liver and kidney damage may occur.

Among them, liver-damaged poisoning is the most dangerous, and there is no specific treatment at present, the incidence is urgent, and the case fatality rate is high.

Folk identification methods are unreliable

There are many methods of identification in folklore, such as "brightly colored, good-looking mushrooms are poisonous", "do not grow maggots, insects do not eat, bitter taste, smelly poisonous", "with silverware, garlic, rice fried or boiled black poisonous", "injured discoloration, the juice flow is toxic", "fungus on the lid, rings on the stalk and poisonous with fungal support", etc., there is no scientific basis.

The most reliable identification method for wild poisonous mushrooms is to let professionals use professional instruments in the laboratory to identify them.

The Shenzhen Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention advises citizens to:

(1) Do not eat wild mushrooms or mushrooms of unknown origin;

(2) Wild mushrooms sold in the market, especially wild mushrooms that have not been eaten or do not know, should also be noted;

(3) It is forbidden for catering service units to collect, process and sell wild mushrooms to ensure the safety of public dietary consumption.

(4) If there are symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea with dizziness, headache, limb weakness and other symptoms after eating mushrooms, it is necessary to go to the regular hospital for diagnosis and treatment immediately, and it is best to carry the remaining mushroom samples for identification of the type of mushroom, determine effective treatment measures and judge the prognosis.
