Shenzhen reported one new confirmed case of COVID-19 on 8 January, which is a close contact of Case 2 of the 2 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported on 7 January. At present, Shenzhen has reported a total of 4 confirmed cases of new crown pneumonia.

Previously, the Shenzhen Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention completed the whole genome sequence determination of the new coronavirus in 2 cases on the evening of the 7th, and the results showed that the 2 cases were infected with the Delta variant strain (AY.103 evolutionary branch), and the homology of the two was 100%.

Zhu Wu, deputy director of the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, said at a press conference held on the evening of the 8th that according to the epidemiological investigation, nucleic acid detection and virus genetic testing results, the epidemic is a local epidemic caused by overseas imports.
