A few days ago, according to the notice of the Beijing Municipal People's Government on printing and distributing the "List of Key Tasks in the 2022 Municipal Government Work Report", Xiaomi Automobile Manufacturing Factory and Ideal Automobile Manufacturing Base Factory are prominently listed.

In November 2021, Xiaomi Automobile Manufacturing Plant will be located in Yizhuang, Beijing, and the production plan will be divided into two phases, with the first and second phases of production capacity designed to be 150,000 vehicles. It is reported that after the completion of the project, the annual production capacity of Xiaomi Automobile will reach 300,000 vehicles, and the product is scheduled to be officially mass-produced in 2024.

In addition, in October 2021, on the basis of the original Beijing Hyundai plant, Ideal Automobile is also implementing a green intelligent manufacturing base transformation of its factory in Beijing's Shunyi District, with a total area of 270,000 square meters and a total investment of more than 6 billion yuan. The plant plans to have an annual production capacity of 100,000 pure electric vehicles, and is expected to start production by the end of 2023.

In addition, the first phase of Weilan New Energy Solid-State Battery and toyota fuel cell R&D project center have also started construction in Beijing, including the transformation and upgrading tasks of traditional car companies such as BAIC Group, which have been included in the list of key tasks in 2022 by the Beijing Municipal Government.

It is also worth noting that Tesla will open a design center in Beijing before the Internet rumors, Tesla officials did not comment. This is also not mentioned in the list of key tasks. As early as 2020, Tesla had revealed plans to establish a design center in China to produce "Chinese-style cars", but the specific planning content was not finalized. According to Reuters' report in 2021, this design center may be located in Shanghai or Beijing.

With the rapid development of the new energy automobile industry, Beijing has also begun to vigorously promote the expansion process of this industry, and the entry of Xiaomi and Ideal Automobile will also add new growth impetus to the industry.
