Urban volunteering is an important part of the work of the Winter Olympics. On December 17, the Information Office of the Beijing Municipal People's Government held a series of press conferences on the city hosted by the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing - Urban Volunteer Service Session, and the relevant responsible persons of the Beijing Winter Olympic Volunteer Headquarters, the Youth League Municipal Committee and the representatives of urban volunteers attended the press conference to introduce the relevant situation and answer reporters' questions. According to reports, the city volunteers are expected to start full induction services on January 25 next year until the end of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Li Jian, deputy secretary of the Beijing Youth League Municipal Committee and executive deputy commander of the City Volunteer Command, introduced that the City Volunteer Command was formally established in August this year, with the Beijing Youth League Municipal Committee and the Capital Civilization Office as the lead unit, specifically responsible for the organization and implementation of urban volunteer service work.
According to the needs of urban operation during the test activities and official competitions, urban volunteer service work is mainly to participate in and undertake urban operation guarantee related tasks, and the service content mainly includes: personnel guidance, information consultation, language services, civilization publicity, emergency relief, cultural dissemination, environmental protection, joint construction of safety, and disability assistance services.
According to the different service locations, urban volunteers are mainly divided into seven categories, namely: volunteers around the venue, volunteers at urban volunteer service sites, volunteers at ice and snow sports venues for the Winter Olympics, volunteers in key communities (villages), volunteers in disability assistance services, volunteers in civilized transportation, and volunteers at the 2022 Beijing News Center. During the race, 200,000 volunteers will participate in volunteer service.
Li Jian introduced that according to the overall work requirements of the Winter Olympic Games, the city volunteers are expected to start full induction services on January 25, 2022, until the end of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. At present, the first batch of urban volunteers have been on duty at the main service station on December 5.
