"You are almost 20 years old, you should have your own ideas and pursuits, and you need the necessary experience for life growth." After 7 years, Yin Feifan once again opened the family letter written by his parents when he was in his recruit company.
Yin Feifan, born in 1996, joined the army in 2015 and served in a naval department. After retiring from the military, he returned to school and studied in the Chinese Department of Donghai College of Science and Technology of Zhejiang Ocean University. During his university years, he participated in the "National Defense Youth Pioneer Company of Zhejiang Ocean University" jointly established by Zhejiang Ocean University and Zhoushan Garrison District. In August 2021, he was assigned to the career establishment teacher of Beilun District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, as a Chinese teacher and class teacher, and also served as a physical education teacher in two classes of the third grade of the school.
"Why is the army different from what I saw when I was a child?"
Yin Feifan's father was an old navy. When he was a child, he often rummaged through his father's cupboard and saw stacks of certificates, and when he was young, he developed a strong curiosity and would snuggle up to his father and listen to the glorious stories. With a desire for the sea and military uniforms, Yin Feifan joined the army in 2015 and became an electric aviation soldier, responsible for the daily maintenance and maintenance of the use and maintenance of the electric compass. But the aircraft job was under the cab and could not see the sea, and Yin Feifan was very frustrated.
His squad leader comforted him: "Although we can't see the sea, our work is crucial to the ship's navigation, and we can help the ship to the north, which is a beacon for the ship to sail." The squad leader's words were also like a lighthouse, illuminating the path that Yin Feifan insisted on.
The three months of the recruit company are the most difficult and memorable moments. His father was a soldier, and the army was no stranger to Yin Feifan. As a child he often entered the camp, and in his memory everyone in the unit was very sunny. He didn't do much preparation before joining the army, thinking like coming home.
Unexpectedly, after arriving at the army, he had to get up at 5:30 every morning to run, and the strict squad leader and the training all day made him sigh: "How is this different from what I saw when I was a child?" Although the recruit company was bitter, it gave him the best time to feel the affection of his parents.
Before leaving home, his father wrote his name and stuck it on the tooth cup with tape, and when everyone was still looking for the same tooth cup after the training, Yin Feifan could always find the one who wrote the name at once. For a moment, I suddenly felt my father's wordless love.
His parents also wrote him a letter supporting him and encouraging him to become a good soldier. This letter became the spiritual sustenance of Yin Feifan's recruit company. Whenever his comrades fell asleep, he used the light outside the camp to secretly watch, secretly cry, and sleep with this love.
During his two years in the army, he conscientiously completed every task and won the admiration of his comrades-in-arms. Due to waist injuries and other reasons, Yin Feifan was unable to continue to enter the military academy. Before retiring, he went to say goodbye to the captain, "such a serious and responsible work attitude, whether you are in the army or in the local area, you can shine!" The captain's words became a flash of fire that he adhered to good habits during his confused period.
"Found in the vanguard company the feeling of being in the troops"
Retiring from the army and returning to school, Yin Feifan experienced a long period of confusion. The gap from soldier to student made him confused. After returning to school, he still maintained the habit of getting up early to run and insisted on self-discipline.
When he had nothing to do, he thought about volunteering. Some parents have no way to pick up their children home on time because of busy work and other reasons, so Yin Feifan went to accompany these children and help them with homework. Coming and going, he developed a deep relationship with the children, and the process of volunteering also affected his career choices after graduation. During his university years, Yin Feifan also won the title of "Outstanding Young Volunteer of Zhejiang Ocean University", with a total of 300 hours of volunteer hours.
In June 2018, Zhejiang Ocean University and Zhoushan Garrison District jointly established the "Zhejiang Ocean University National Defense Youth Pioneer Company", a retired university student organization, to undertake military training tasks, participate in the school's emergency response, and recruit publicity.
Yin Feifan said it was one of the student organizations that had the greatest impact on him. Here, he found like-minded comrades-in-arms and a career that he was willing to fight for. The members of the vanguard company, most of whom were retired soldiers, shared a common language and similar preferences, and could always find common topics when talking about the life of the troops.
In the Pioneer Company, he actively participated in daily training and shone brightly in national defense education activities. After the training of the instructors of the Zhoushan Garrison District, Yin Feifan and his comrades-in-arms began to undertake the military training of new students on campus. The first year as an instructor, the second year can already smoothly lead the new military training. Due to his excellent leadership, he also undertook military training in some primary and secondary schools in Zhoushan City. Whether it is patriotic education or new military training, the retired soldiers of the vanguard company are strict with themselves and convey the energy of the soldiers in the best state.
Yin Feifan said that there were "company commanders" and "platoon leaders" in the vanguard company, the most lovely comrades-in-arms, and exclusive venues and equipment rooms.
"I want to be a soldier when I grow up"
Getting up at 6 o'clock every day has become a habit of Yin Feifan. Now as a Chinese teacher and class teacher, he insists on coming to school early and taking care of the children's growth.
In the process of participating in volunteer service and pioneer company, he gradually found his own career direction: to become a teacher and bloom his youth in another field.
In August 2021, Yin Feifan was included in the career establishment teacher of Beilun District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, and served as a Language teacher and class teacher of Class 102 at the Chunxiao Experimental School Affiliated to Ningbo University in Beilun District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. Due to his status as a retired soldier and his experience as a military training instructor, he is also a physical education teacher in two classes of the third grade of the school.
Becoming a class teacher in the first year of entering the industry is something he did not expect, and while the pressure is doubled, it also gives him a lot of motivation, and he must do this well.
Treating the first-grade children, Yin Feifan said that he must be strict and loving, will take care of them like a father, and also tell them what the rules are. Class 102 has received many complaints from parents due to poor discipline. After Yin Feifan took over, he found a particularly effective way to learn from the discipline of the troops.
If the children are not in line, then they will be lined up over and over again; if it is not quiet when eating, then everyone will stop chopsticks... He would patiently tell the children why they were doing this. Through his efforts, the discipline in the class has improved greatly. At the parent-teacher conference, 98% of the parents' satisfaction was obtained, and only one parent filled in ok.
Classes are rigorous and lively at the end of the class. Every time I arrived at recess, the children would gather around and share their recent happiness with Mr. Yin. Yin Feifan will also share with children the videos of the sea he took when he was a soldier, so that they can feel the majesty of the sea.
"I'm going to be a soldier when I grow up." When many children said these words, the seeds of soldiers had already sprouted in their hearts, which also made Yin Feifan feel very pleased.
"I'm very grateful to all the people I've met along the way, for keeping me improving and making strides forward." Yin Feifan, a retired soldier who loves the military camp, loves volunteer service and loves children, said so.
