There is a group of "coal river" guardians in the depths of Yanshan Mountain

Just after Lichun, a reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Network set off from Datong City, Shanxi Province, with the staff of China Railway Taiyuan Bureau Group Co., Ltd., and drove for two hours to the foot of Yanshan Mountain in Yangyuan County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. Driving along the winding mountain road all the way up, you will come to the most difficult line workshop of the Daqin Line - the Wangjiawan Line Workshop. This is a quiet courtyard located in the middle of the mountain, during this year's Spring Festival, the workers here stuck to their posts in the mountains, guarding the "coal river" that flowed out of the Daqin Railway...

At 7:00 a.m., Wang Zhiming, a young employee of the Wangjiawan Line Workshop, went to the tool room after breakfast and inspected the tools needed for daily road operations. Rulers, hammers, notebooks... Don't underestimate these tools, you can't leave them when you check the line every day. Seeing that the shovel handle next to him was a little loose, he tightened it hard; then tried the bolting machine, and when the rope pulling machine beeped, he was relieved...

The Daqin Railway is the first double-line electrified heavy-duty coal transport line in mainland China. Wang Zhiming told the China Youth Daily and China Youth Network reporter that since 1988, the Wangjiawan line workshop has always been responsible for the maintenance of the most difficult section of the Daqin Line and the 56-kilometer line. Bridges and tunnels account for 82% of the total length of the line under the jurisdiction of this workshop, and 12% of the large long ramps. Wang Zhiming said, "This road can not enter the large road maintenance machinery, almost all rely on manual maintenance." ”

At 10:00 a.m., the dispatch order was issued, and Wang Zhiming and his co-workers entered the tunnel with 6 "recruits" to start work, all of whom had just graduated from school last year. The tunnel is pitch black, and even with headlamps on, visibility is only 5 meters at most, and air does not circulate. When a train passes by during the maintenance process, Wang Zhiming will greet everyone in advance to enter the car shelter to avoid.

The trains in the tunnel roared by, and the semi-enclosed environment and the coal ash accumulated over the years on the tracks flew up with the passage of the train, filling all corners of the tunnel, making it difficult to breathe and open their eyes. When the train passed, the "recruit" Yan Pengfei and his co-workers were covered with a thick layer of coal ash. When he saw himself for the first time, Yan Pengfei couldn't help but take a selfie and send it to his friends, "Everyone said that I was not like a railway worker, but like a miner going down the well." ”

Since the beginning of winter last year, the supply and transportation of thermal coal on the Daqin Line has increased, and the maintenance pressure of the Wangjiawan Line workshop has increased with the density of heavy-duty traffic. Fan Xiangyang, general secretary of the party branch of the workshop, told reporters that whenever a heavy-duty train passes through Wangjiawan, it will often twist out three or four curves and seven or eight undulations at the same time, and the height difference between the front and rear of the car can exceed 10 floors at most. "If a young heavy-duty driver can pass through the road section under our jurisdiction safely and smoothly, he must be qualified, but it also brings a severe test to our maintenance and repair."

Since fast-moving vehicles can have an impact on the rails, in addition to daily inspections, the railway department regularly sets "sunroof points" (construction and repair time) to maintain the line.

In the past, the Wangjiawan line workshop had an average of 9 skylight points per month, and as the pressure on thermal coal supply increased, there were only 3 skylight points in a month when it was most tense. "There is less time to repair and maintain, but there are more diseases that may occur on the line, and our pressure has increased." Fan Xiangyang said.

In order to ensure the safety of train transportation, Wang Zhiming has not returned home for more than half a month. His home is in Datong City, Shanxi Province, and every time he comes home, he experiences bumps in the road from car to train to car. Wang Zhiming said that every time he calls home during the Spring Festival, the most frightening thing is that the child asks "Daddy when are you coming back?" But he did not feel bitter, "This is all as it should be, compared to the older generation of Wangjiawan people in the past, the current conditions are much better." ”

When the Wangjiawan line workshop was first established, the working environment was much more difficult than it is now. "Two mountains sandwiched between a bridge, no birds in the sky, wind blowing stones to run, eating underwater river scoop" is the local people's ridicule of the previous living environment. Fan Xiangyang recalled that at the beginning, the staff had difficulty in drafting water, and they were tired of killing 3 donkeys just by pulling water. There are no communication facilities, no people, it is difficult to see family once a week, sometimes the snow closes the mountains, it takes several hours to walk to the nearest township, and it takes a village bus to the city to take the train home.

In recent years, after continuous construction, the living environment of the Wangjiawan line workshop has undergone great changes. But every time he heard the teachers tell the stories of the past, Li Tieming always felt a surge of emotion. In fact, before coming to work in the Wangjiawan line workshop, Li Tieming did not think that the working environment would be so difficult. "When I first came here, I thought about leaving when I saw such an environment, but with the understanding of the Wangjiawan workshop, I slowly fell in love with this place."

Halfway up the mountainside, the winding steel dragon shuttles through the Yanshan Mountains, and the hillside next to the small courtyard of the workshop is inlaid with the two big characters of "Stick to", which are made of stone blocks by the staff of the workshop.

Du Hongxin came to the Wangjiawan Line Workshop last year and is the only undergraduate student among the 6 young people. Despite his discomfort when he first arrived, he chose to stay here. "Young people have to go to the most frontline and the hardest places to hone, and I believe that they can shine in any position." Du Hongxin said.

It is precisely with the silent persistence of generations of Wangjiawan people that the Wangjiawan line workshop has achieved 33 consecutive years of safe production and accident-free impressive results. "This is inseparable from the silent persistence and dedication of generations of Wangjiawan people, who are like nails on the Great Qin Line." Fan Xiangyang said.
