John F. Kennedy was the president of the United States during the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. Arguably, some of the most interesting and compelling stories about John F. Kennedy took place during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. The dramatic showdown with the Soviet Union represented a high level of restraint and achievement during President Kennedy's presidency. However, the public truth of this incident is only the tip of the iceberg of the whole conspiracy.
While Kennedy was busy negotiating with Nikita Khrushchev, other U.S. government authorities had been planning alternatives to the crisis in 1962. Among them was a program called Operation Northern Forest, a fake attack on Americans aimed at justifying the war with Cuba. If the United States Government could not find a valid reason to strike Cuba, they planned to make one up. Fortunately, President Kennedy adamantly rejected the offer, as it could spell disaster for American morale.

There were many "hot spots" in the decades-long Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, but 1962 was one of the warmest. Cuban leader Fidel Castro allied himself with the Soviet Union, which was considered a communist partner, and the Soviet Union then began deploying nuclear missiles in the Caribbean country.
With a Soviet ally now at a distance to strike the U.S. homeland, Cold War tensions could soon erupt into a Cuban missile crisis. But before that, the U.S. government began looking for possible options to end the threat from Cuba.

The entire anti-Castro program, dubbed Operation Mongoose, involved the CIA, the Department of Defense, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, which meant the deception. It is done at the highest level of government.
Operation "Northern Forest" will include actual acts of violence
While the government plans to carry out forged attacks first, Operation Northern Forest is prepared to carry out physical strikes against U.S. targets when these attacks are ineffective. These genuine acts of violence will include attempts to assassinate prominent Cuban exiles living in the United States, random bombings in major United States cities and the hijacking of aircraft.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff was fully aware that Americans could lose their lives in the process, but they believed that such a price was acceptable in finding reasons for U.S. troops to intervene in Cuba.
The plan calls for the sinking of a Cuban refugee ship bound for the United States
The Northern Forest Action Plan attacked a ship full of Cuban refugees bound for the United States. Refugee boats are frequent in the waters between Cuba and Florida, and U.S. intelligence agencies see it as a golden opportunity to step up public opinion against Fidel Castro.
By sinking refugee ships, Americans can frame Castro for murdering his own people, portraying him as the kind of evil dictator worthy of U.S. intervention.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff approved Operation North Forest
Operation Northwoods is not just a well-planned operation or a last resort. The False Flag Conspiracy, an official recommendation of the U.S. intelligence community, was developed jointly with the Department of Defense and endorsed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff as "fit for planning purposes."
Lemman L. Lemniser, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, formally signed Operation Forest North and recommended it to the Kennedy administration.
President Kennedy categorically rejected the operation
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff recommended The Northern Forest Initiative to President John F. Kennedy's Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara. While there is no clear record of McNamara or Kennedy's exact reaction to the proposal, the news that Lemnitzer was demoted shortly thereafter is telling.
Kennedy was allegedly appalled by the suggestion to attack U.S. citizens in the name of waging war. Because of Kennedy's refusal, The Northern Forest Initiative never went beyond the stage when the Joint Chiefs of Staff was "fit for planning purposes."
Operation North Forest was not known until the 1990s
Just because John F. Kennedy and Robert McNamara stopped Operation Northwoods doesn't mean they want the public to know about it. After all, the discovery that the U.S. intelligence community has proposed a false flag attack on the American population will undoubtedly lead to a sharp decline in trust in the government.
The United States managed to hide Operation North forest for more than 30 years, but the government finally declassified it and the rest of Operation Mongoose in 1997.
