4 strategies for parents who want their children to speak

If the child does not speak for a long time, the parents will be very anxious.

I believe that parents who have learned some intervention knowledge know that they are not in a hurry to speak, and we must lay a good foundation in front of the child, that is, pre-language skills.

What are the pre-language skills?

According to the Speech Therapy Assessment Handbook edited by Professor Li Yuexi of the University of Chinese in Hong Kong, prephrased skills include communication motivation, eye contact and eye tracing, concentration, rotation, imitation, and game skills.

Today we will bring you some pre-language skills learning skills, especially for children who have not yet appeared a word.

1

imitate

Imitation is hierarchical, we can not only focus on whether the child can carry out "imitation", it is best to take a step back to see if the child can imitate the pronunciation and mouth shape.

If the child cannot do these two things, then it should take a step back and let the child imitate step by step in the following order:

From big moves to small moves such as: jumping vs hammering thighs vs clapping hands

Body parts from far to near such as: slapping the palms, wrists, elbows, arms, shoulders

From the head to the facial features

From non-verbal to verbal

From mouth shape to sound

From voice to speech

In addition to asking children to imitate adults, we can also imitate children's movements and pronunciation, so that children will pay attention to adult behavior, and slowly, more and more behaviors that have been imitated by adults will appear.

2

repeat

Whether it's movement or sound, repetition is a very important learning path.

For example, in the teletubbies program, the plot is repeated again and again, and adults will feel very stuffy, but children need this repetition very much, and adults should also repeat it tirelessly until the child is no longer willing to listen in the usual intervention.

3

Mother's language

The tone of speech between adults and children is different from that of adults and adults, and this kind of speech is called "mother's language".

Generally speaking, the "mother language" is more exaggerated, the tone is higher, and the tone changes more. This is very helpful for children's perception of language.

4

Sound games

Sound games are based on the child's vocalization to do some imitation and repetition, and then add changes in the height, size, length, rhythm and other changes of the sound.

The next step in developing children's willingness to pronounce more and continue to work hard to pronounce is to come up with meaningful words.

Exactly the same words and sentences are pronounced in different tones, and the results conveyed will be different. How is it different, you can refer to the movie "The Best Life of a Spoiled Woman".

The above are the 4 teaching strategies shared today, parents should practice at home and children in life!

Next, we will continue to share more speech training interventions, so stay tuned
