Foreign Ministry: China and the United States will hold a series of activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Nixon's visit to China and the signing of the Shanghai Communiqué

On February 10, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian presided over a regular press conference.

Zhao Lijian said in response to the inquiry that this year marks the 50th anniversary of President Nixon's visit to China and the signing of the "Shanghai Communiqué," which is the first joint communiqué signed by China and the United States, thus establishing the principles that the two countries should follow in developing mutual relations, especially the one-China principle, which has become the political basis for the normalization of Sino-US relations and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The United States and China will hold a series of commemorative activities in the near future to review history and look forward to the future. The Chinese side will release the relevant information in a timely manner.
