The First Chechen War can be said to be partly a showdown between Russian and Western special forces. According to statistics, in the first Chechen war, the Russian army killed nearly 4,000 people and wounded tens of thousands of people, why did the Russian army suffer such heavy casualties. Because nearly half of the two most elite Chechen battalions in the Chechen armed forces are retired special forces from Western countries, and they are the most elite special forces from the countries involved, including the American Navy SEALs, the Ninth Brigade of the German Border Guard, the French gendarmerie and the Thundering Special Forces from Poland. These veteran special forces are well-equipped and extremely experienced in combat. Chechen armed heavy prize hired these mercenaries to fight for themselves, the Western mercenaries who participated in the war in groups of three, respectively, were bazookas, machine gunners and snipers, the Russian army suffered heavy losses under these mercenaries, when the first thousand Russian troops to enter the city of Grozny only one officer and ten soldiers escaped, the rest were all killed, 102 of the 120 Russian tank armored vehicles were destroyed. In the Second Chechen War, Putin drew 2,000 special forces from all over Russia into Chechnya, and finally after paying a heavy price, Russia won the pinnacle of the showdown with Western special forces.
