Price increase again? Apple's new iPad is about to be mass-produced: LG is accelerating production of OLED screens

On February 9, foreign media Elec reported that LG Display is making major adjustments to its screen production line and plans to produce OLED screens specifically for Apple's new generation iPad. It is foreseeable that the iPad equipped with oled screen will be officially mass-produced soon.

It is understood that LG Display is transferring OLED production equipment to the Paju plant in South Korea, which is a major adjustment to the production line, and the transfer of active equipment is quite rare, not only the equipment needs to be recalibrated, but there is also a risk of damage during transportation. LG's move is clearly hoping to increase production capacity through production line transfer to better meet Apple's order demand.

At present, LG's factory in Paju already has two production lines, both of which specialize in the production of flexible OLED screens for Apple's iPhone, and a third production line is currently being built to increase production. The fourth production line is ready to produce rigid OLED panels, with a monthly production capacity of up to 15,000 pieces, which should be prepared for the new generation of iPads.

The M1 version of the iPad Pro used the Mini LED screen for the first time, which brought a very good display effect and was affirmed by the majority of consumers. However, due to the low production capacity and higher cost of Mini LED screens, the product has been in a tight supply state at the beginning of the market, even if the supply is still not sufficient. Apple's launch of the OLED version of the iPad may be able to solve the shortage of high-end product production capacity, which will greatly help to increase iPad sales.

Recently, it was reported that Apple will hold a spring new product launch conference on March 8, bringing products such as the iPhone SE3, iPad Air 5 and the entry-level MacBook Pro equipped with M2 chips. Among them, the iPhone SE3 should be the most anticipated, it will use the same form factor as the iPhone 8, equipped with Apple A15 chip and support 5G network. At the same time, it will also retain the physical Home button and support touch ID function, just hope that the battery life of the phone is not too crotch.

The M2 version of the MacBook Pro is also one of the highlights of this conference, there is not much news about the M2 chip, but the specifications seem to be the same as the M1, and there must be a good improvement in performance. Apple positioned the product as an entry-level model, the design should have some changes, and the relative price will be lower, which is worth considering.

For users who want to buy an iPad, it is recommended to choose the M1 version of the iPad Pro, which has great advantages in terms of performance and price. Of course, you can also continue to wait for the OLED version of the iPad, perhaps in the second half of the year with the iPhone 15 together.
