The Wall Street Journal Chinese published a report pointing out that within a specific time period (September 16, 2016 to January 3, 2023), consumers who have owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus and filed a complaint with Apple about the phone's audio problems are eligible to participate in a class action settlement and may receive up to $349 in damages. It is important to note that the deadline to file a claim is Tuesday, June 4 at 2:59 a.m. ET.

Under the terms of the settlement, customers who have paid Apple for repairs or replacements due to audio issues with their phones will have the opportunity to receive up to $349 in compensation. For those who reported the problem but did not pay for the repair or replacement, the maximum compensation is $125. At the same time, Apple users who meet the conditions of the settlement and are approved will have a minimum payout of no less than $50.

According to the report, since the launch of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in 2016, some users have encountered audio problems, such as not being able to hear sound during calls. As a result, a group of owners filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, arguing that the issues were related to audio IC chips and were design and manufacturing defects.

However, Apple refuted this, denying the allegations, including that the phone models had audio issues or that the company had any illegal acts. Still, in order to avoid further legal disputes and costs, the two parties eventually reached a settlement agreement, and Apple agreed to pay $35 million as a settlement payment.
