IT Home reported on May 17 that Ming-Chi Kuo released an investment briefing today, believing that Apple will increase the energy density (Wh/kg) of the iPhone 16 Pro Max battery, which means that the battery life is stronger in the same volume and smaller in the same battery life.

According to my latest supply chain survey, the iPhone 16 Pro Max's battery cells will have an increased energy density (Wh/kg) due to longer battery life for the same battery size, or a lower battery size for the same battery life.

Increasing the energy density of the battery cell will increase the temperature of the battery during operation, and in order to avoid the cause of battery overheating, Apple has used stainless steel battery case as a heat dissipation solution for the first time.

Stainless steel doesn't dissipate heat as well as aluminum, but it's stronger and less susceptible to corrosion, so in addition to heat dissipation, the stainless steel battery case also provides better protection for the battery and iPhone system.

The stainless steel battery case also makes it easier to remove the battery, which will help Apple comply with EU regulations for mobile phone battery removability in the future.

If the mass production of this new battery design (battery cell energy density upgrade & stainless steel battery case) goes well and the feedback is good, the new iPhone 2H25 will fully adopt this new battery design.

Xinwei Communication is a major supplier of stainless steel battery cases, and this order contributes less than 5% to Xinwei Communication's 2024 revenue, but due to Apple's high standards for stamping production procedures, the gross profit margin is better than that of general metal stamping parts, which is conducive to Xinwei Communication's profit in 2H24.

Looking ahead to 2025, if all new 2H25 iPhones adopt this new design, the contribution of available orders to Xinwei Communication's revenue and profit in 2025 is expected to increase by 200–250%, which will benefit Xinwei Communication's 2025 operating performance.
