10 million won salary increase per capita! Samsung: Don't do it, union: that strike

The National Samsung Electronics Labor Union filed an arbitration application with South Korea's National Labor Relations Commission over the weekend due to the failure to reach an agreement with management on wages in 2021.

The union said it would have the legal right to hold a strike if the arbitration agreement could not be reached within 10 days, something that had never been seen in Samsung's 53-year history.

"Although the union has had 15 rounds of negotiations with Samsung, management has unilaterally delayed the progress of the negotiations in a deceptive manner," the union said. ”

Samsung Electronics management said it would continue negotiations with workers but refused to accept the union's demand to increase each employee's annual salary by 10 million won (about 53,000 yuan) and pay a performance bonus equivalent to 25% of the group's operating profit.
