With the rapid progress of car manufacturing technology, automobiles have changed from the accumulation of traditional mechanical parts to the crystallization of a series of high-end technologies covering machinery and electronic control. However, with the landing of a series of intelligent driver assistance systems, driving travel has begun to change from "human-led" to "car-led", and the electronic control system is the most critical control center. However, although electronic systems are advanced and can provide convenience for our driving life, they can never match mechanical systems in terms of reliability. Even if it is an ordinary family car, a series of operations such as vehicle start, acceleration, and braking are also completed under the intervention of the electronic control system, and in such a context, whether it is a human operation problem or the failure of the electronic control system, it has become the key evidence of responsibility determination, because of this situation and the occurrence of litigation disputes, it can now be said that there are not a few.
The full popularity of EDR may completely break this situation. Although the currently popular dashcam is also responsible for recording the driving of vehicles, the division of labor with EDR is different. The driving recorder mainly records the picture of the vehicle driving, especially the accident that occurs in the case of "touching porcelain", grabbing the road, etc., which can be used as direct evidence. The EDR is responsible for recording the driving data of the vehicle and the instructions of the electronic control system, and undertakes the work that the driving recorder cannot complete, and in the case that the vehicle and human responsibility cannot be determined after the accident, the data recorded by the EDR becomes the key.

In addition, with the electrification transformation of the entire market, the penetration rate of electric vehicles began to gradually increase. Compared with traditional fuel vehicles, electric vehicles not only have different driving methods, but also have more complex electronic control systems. Especially in the case of overload of drive motors, overheating of batteries, etc., there is a risk of spontaneous combustion, and many such cases have occurred throughout the country, with joint ventures and imported brands being the most serious. Judging from past cases, after the accident, the brand side will be vague about the fire source in the car, the charging method is not good, etc., the most fundamental reason is that there is no key evidence in the hands of the user, and the popularity of EDR has completely solved this problem.
It can be said that nearly a decade is the golden period for the development of China's automobile market, during which independent brands have developed rapidly, and have brought products with higher safety and more in line with the needs of Chinese cars. Under the catch-up of independent brands, many joint venture brands have not enhanced their market competitiveness through vehicle upgrades, but have obtained higher profits by reducing costs, which has greatly reduced vehicle safety. The spread of EDR will sound a wake-up call for joint venture brands to reduce safety performance.
