On January 27, 2022, Shanghai launched the preparation of another major automotive electronic chip project. Interface News learned that under the impetus of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, SAIC Motor and Shanghai New Micro Technology R&D Center Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in Jiading today.
According to relevant personnel, SAIC Motor will participate in the automotive chip engineering center initiated by the new micro-technology center in the form of fund investment. The planning of the automotive chip engineering center will include the pilot line and mass production line of the automotive chip to make up for the shortcomings of automotive chip design enterprises in process development and manufacturing, help design companies reduce product development investment, shorten the development cycle, and accelerate the product listing process.
It is reported that after the establishment of the Automotive Chip Engineering Center, it will further improve the ecological system of Shanghai's automotive chip industry and create a future-oriented "automotive electronics ecosystem".

In 2021, under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, in coordination with the Development and Reform Commission, the Science and Technology Commission and other commissions and offices, mainly carried out six aspects of work in the process of promoting the research and development and industrialization of automotive electronic chips.
Shanghai organized the establishment of the Shanghai "Automotive Electronic Chip R&D and Industrialization Technical Expert Group", which aims to analyze and study the development trend of the automotive industry and the integrated circuit industry, put forward research and development plans, control the process of technical research, and solve key core problems; at the same time, actively connect with national ministries and commissions, and organize industry associations to build a collaborative exchange and development platform for the upstream and downstream of the automotive electronics industry in the Yangtze River Delta region; assist in promoting the construction of the School of Microelectronics and integrated circuits of Shanghai University, and build an autonomous driving car chip "sensor memory and calculation display" The integrated R&D system explores the needs of innovative development of integrated circuit disciplines, and provides a reserve talent training base for the mainland automotive electronic chip industry.
In the past year, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and other commissions and bureaus have promoted the construction of relevant enterprises in Shanghai to jointly establish an automotive electronic testing platform and a vehicle regulation certification standard system to shorten the certification cycle and reduce the repeated investment in certification.
Shanghai focuses on incremental application areas such as new energy and intelligent networking, dynamically establishes a high-end chip research list library, continues to promote the breakthrough of domestic chips from scratch to excellent, makes a number of basic chip products better and stronger, and continuously improves the technical energy level; pulls the chip enterprise products that have been installed and mass-produced, including MCUs, IGBTs, memory and other products to domestic manufacturing enterprises for tape-out, to design-driven manufacturing, and improve the proportion of localized manufacturing.
Interface News learned that in 2022, Shanghai will continue to increase its efforts to promote from two aspects: improving industry capabilities and creating an industrial environment, and accelerate the construction of Shanghai as a highland for the automotive electronic chip industry.
In terms of improving industry capabilities, Shanghai will work together to tackle key product platforms for automotive chips facing the industry, coordinate the construction of automotive chip engineering centers, promote the alliance of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain, and optimize quality control and reliability test standards.
Shanghai will encourage the construction of a credible third-party automotive electronic chip testing platform, promote relevant units to jointly build a credible and authoritative automotive electronic chip testing platform, and formulate a vehicle regulation certification standard system that meets the characteristics of the mainland industry.
Shanghai HIA will continue to promote the landing of key research projects, support enterprises to tackle the design and manufacture of high-end automotive chips, and break through the neck point of technology cards.
In terms of creating an industrial environment, Shanghai will further improve the industrial chain and promote the development of industrial agglomeration. Shanghai will improve the layout of the automotive electronic chip industry chain, enhance the ability of industrial coordinated development, carry out automotive electronic chip application demonstrations, and vigorously support industry associations, industry alliances and other industry associations to publicize and promote typical cases of automotive electronic chip demonstration applications.
Shanghai will also make comprehensive efforts to accurately attract investment, promote development, improve quality and efficiency - focus on cultivating and gathering key enterprises and major projects, focus on gathering and attracting world-class integrated circuit enterprises, build a world-class advanced level of integrated circuit professional parks, and contribute to the innovative development of China's and even global automotive industry "Shanghai wisdom".
