At the memorial service, Deng Xiaoping said affectionately:
Liu Bocheng and I have worked together for a long time and know each other very well... The feelings are harmonious and the work is very coordinated. Liu Bocheng scattered his ashes in the place where he had participated in the battle before his death, and the tombstone was erected at the former site of the headquarters of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army.
