In 1928, Sun Dianying took the opportunity of military exercises to come to the Qing Dongling Tomb, destroyed the tombs of Cixi and Qianlong, obtained countless gold and silver treasures from them, and became a veritable thief of Tanglin, but he was not attacked by people from all walks of life in China, and Feng Yuxiang and other warlord leaders admired him very much.
Not only that, in the late period of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he also became a lackey of the Japanese, specifically opposing his compatriots, and during the Liberation War, he was in the company of Chiang Kai-shek, became a senior general of the Kuomintang, and constantly launched attacks on the People's Liberation Army.
Sun Dianying did all the bad things and should have been punished. However, in 1947, when Sun Dianying was captured by our army, Marshal Liu Bocheng said: "We must ensure sun Dianying's safety and then send someone to take good care of him." ”
So, why did Liu Bocheng give Sun Dianying preferential treatment? And how did he repeatedly jump across several camps and steal his life?
The Great Thief of Tanglin, a lackey of the Japanese army
Sun Dianying was born in a poor rural family in Yongcheng, Henan Province, the family did not have money for him to study, from a young age he sent him to the landlord's family to work as a long-term worker, and there were other long-term workers with him, all older than him, and when he was free, he liked to play dice and gamble.
Sun Dianying also developed such a habit in such an environment, and as soon as he got to work, he picked up the dice and gambled with people. With the passage of time, Sun Dianying's gambling skills became better and better, and he no longer honestly became a long-term worker, but instead mixed in the city, using his superb gambling skills to make a wide range of hooligans and military police officers, and opened gambling clubs and sold opium, making a lot of money.
In that war-torn era, Sun Dianying believed that it was not enough to have money, and that he must have a gun to defend his wealth. Sun Dianying used the money he earned to buy a batch of guns and gathered an armed group to protect his gambling and drug business.
With the intensification of warlord scuffles in various places, Sun Dianying's business became more and more difficult to do, and in 1925, Sun Dianying took his own team and defected to the Shandong warlord Zhang Zongchang and became a regular army.
However, Sun Dianying's troops could not compare with real soldiers except bullying the people and scaring the little hooligans and bandits, so when Sun Dianying led them to resist the Northern Expeditionary Army, they were quickly defeated.
Seeing that the troops were in a disadvantage, Sun Dianying immediately bowed down and surrendered, and was absorbed by Chiang Kai-shek's National Revolutionary Army, becoming the commander of the Twelfth Army of the Sixth Army.
In 1928, Sun Dianying was stationed in Jixian County, Hebei Province, with his troops, and he was not familiar with it when he first arrived here, so he asked a few local soldiers to take him around.
The vicinity of the troops was full of barren mountains and wild mountains, and Sun Dianying just turned around for a while and said irritably: What place where birds don't, there is not even a place to give Grandpa wine and gambling money. ”
A soldier hurried up to him and said with a smile on his face, "Sir, you may not know that although we look like wild grass here, there is a good place where all the treasures are buried." ”
Sun Dianying immediately became interested and asked, "What treasure?" Let's hear it. ”
From the soldier's mouth, Sun Dianying learned that nearby was the royal tomb of the Qing Dynasty, and the burial items inside must be rare treasures. Sun Dianying was very impressed, but he did not dare to dig the mausoleum blatantly, so he sent troops to guard the vicinity of the Tanglin Tomb layer by layer, falsely claiming to conduct military exercises here.
In this way, Sun Dianying brought a few of his cronies to the Dongling Tomb to dig a tomb, but the fortifications of the Imperial Tomb were very difficult to crack, and Sun Dianying and others did not blow the door open after digging for several days.
Sun Dianying was anxious to get the treasure inside, and directly took the bomb to blast open the tomb door, and after a while, the tall tomb door collapsed violently, and in the smoke of gunfire, Sun Dianying rushed directly to the mausoleum.
Sure enough, Qianlong and Cixi, as the two most luxurious people among the Qing rulers, hid a large amount of gold and silver treasures in the mausoleum, and Sun Dianying and several of his subordinates excitedly scavenged in the mausoleum, and even the night pearl contained in Cixi's mouth was also taken away.
Although Cixi and Qianlong are not good people, the treasures buried in their tombs are part of the mainland's historical relics, and Sun Dianying's destruction of the mausoleum has caused irreparable damage to the mainland archaeology industry.
Of course, the outside world was also full of scolding, and the Republic of China government began to arrest Sun Dianying, and in order to avoid punishment, Sun Dianying gave the stolen treasure to Song Ziwen, Kong Xiangxi, and others.
In 1943, the Japanese army attacked the Taihang Mountains with 200,000 troops, encircling Sun Dianying's 30,000 troops, so he did not make the slightest struggle, he led the troops to surrender to the Japanese army, and became a team in the Wang puppet government.
Captured by Marshal Liu Bocheng
After the Japanese army surrendered, Sun Dianying took the initiative to find Chiang Kai-shek again, and wept bitterly and defended: "I was a traitor in order to break into the enemy's interior, not because I was willing." ”
At that time, Chiang Kai-shek was busy preparing for the civil war, and at the time of employing people, he listened to Sun Dianying's cunning arguments and incorporated him into the revolutionary new Fourth Route Army, which was guarded in Tangyin in northern Henan.
Sun Dianying was grateful to Chiang Kai-shek, and in order to seek credit, he went around grabbing Zhuangding, demolishing the houses of ordinary people, building fortifications, actively fighting a civil war for Chiang Kai-shek, and launching an attack on the People's Liberation Army, but was soon counterattacked by the People's Liberation Army.
In late March 1947, Liu Deng's army marched toward northern Henan in accordance with the orders of the Central Military Commission, preparing to quickly deal with the Kuomintang forces in northern Henan.
Liu Deng's army was so strong that in just ten days, he led the People's Liberation Army to conquer most of northern Henan, gradually approaching Tangyin, where Sun Dianying was stationed.
However, Sun Dianying did not panic, because Tang Yin's city defense was very strong.
During his garrison in Tangyin, Sun Dianying attached great importance to the defense of the city, deepening the moat by nearly 6 meters and widening it by 7 meters, and the city wall was also built high and thick, and perforations were dug to facilitate the attack on the enemy outside the city. Even the open strip on the outskirts of the city was covered with mines.
Moreover, Sun Dianying believed that the Kuomintang army was numerous in number, had advanced weapons, and had the support of the Americans behind it, and in his view, the Kuomintang army would undoubtedly win.
Therefore, he confidently walked up to the city tower and said to the soldiers: "Tangyin City is impregnable, the brothers resist the communist army, and President Jiang will definitely reward us afterwards!" ”
Soon, Marshal Liu Bocheng led the team to Tangyin, and before the siege, Liu Bocheng fired a letter of persuasion to Sun Dianying with a cannonball. In the letter, Liu Bocheng sincerely advised him to see the situation at home clearly and not to stand against the people.
At this time, Sun Dianying was shaken, but if he really defected to the Communist Party, could he still live the luxurious life he has now? The Kuomintang officers were well-regarded, but the Communist generals were dressed like ordinary soldiers, and this was definitely not the life he wanted to live.
Therefore, this time, Sun Dianying did not choose to surrender, he wanted to fight.
On April 4, Liu Deng's army officially launched an attack on Tangyin, because Tangyin's moat was dug too deep, and the People's Liberation Army could not dig tunnels to attack the city, so it had to change to a ladder to climb clouds.
Sun Dianying was in a hurry, and asked the soldiers to wrap grenades in lime to throw down, and as soon as the grenades exploded, the lime splashed everywhere, so that the PLA soldiers could not open their eyes, and several sieges of the city ended in failure.
Seeing that his plan had worked, Sun Dianying proudly said to his subordinates: "I think this gang of communists should also give up!" ”
However, the People's Liberation Army will not give up so easily, and Liu Bo admitted that continuing to attack the city with cloud ladders will only cause casualties, and it cannot continue like this, and other methods should be adopted.
Therefore, after nightfall, Liu Bocheng asked the soldiers to dig many trenches, artillery positions, and small bunkers under Tangyin City, and the next day, Sun Dianying looked at these fortifications that appeared overnight, was startled, and immediately had people pull all the heavy machine guns to the city wall to resist the attack of the People's Liberation Army.
However, this move was useless, our army relied on these fortifications to shoot at the enemy on the city wall, and the enemies on the city wall died batch after batch, and Sun Dianying shouted in fright: "Quick, resist!" ”
Half a month later, most of the soldiers of Sun Dianying's army had been annihilated, and there was not much food or weapons in the city.
And because our army has already captured several cities in northern Henan, it has a steady stream of grain, the soldiers tirelessly attack under the city tower, and it is only a matter of time before Tangyin City is broken.
Sun Dianying was in a hurry in the city, scolding his subordinates for being "waste" and "rice buckets", but now it was useless to say anything. The area around Tangyin City was all occupied by the People's Liberation Army, and even if he wanted to ask for help, there was no way.
Moreover, he had already rejected Marshal Liu Bocheng's persuasion to surrender, and now surrendering would certainly be a dead end, so he decided to fight a battle against the water and continue to resist the People's Liberation Army.
On May 1, the northeast corner of Tangyin City was exploded, and the soldiers inside the city were almost killed and wounded, sun Dianying was unable to resist, so he ran outside the city with gold and silver treasures, but when he ran to Shizhuang, he was still captured by the People's Liberation Army.
When the soldiers brought Sun Dianying to Liu Bocheng, Liu Bocheng received him kindly, invited him to lunch, and instructed the escorts: "We must ensure sun Dianying's safety and take good care of him." ”
Later, when the Yellow Sea Daily interviewed Marshal Liu Bocheng and asked him why he treated a prisoner so favorably, Liu Bocheng said: "He still contributed in the early days of the Anti-Japanese Resistance, so I let the guards take care of him." ”

He fought a bloody battle with the Japanese army for seven days
In February 1933, the main force of the Japanese army approached Rehe, the only surviving province in the northeast after the "918" incident, and if it was reoccupied, the entire northeast would fall into the hands of the Japanese.
Zhang Xueliang, in order to shame Yixue, ordered The Rehe Tang Yulin's troops to resolutely resist the Japanese and not let Rehe fall. Chifeng was a military stronghold of Rehe and had to be defended, so Zhang Xueliang sent Sun Dianying to Chifeng.
On February 27, after Sun Dianying came to Chifeng with his troops, the local government and people from all walks of life held a warm welcome ceremony, and some students sent him flowers and looked at him happily, saying: "When the chief comes, we will be saved in Chifeng!" ”
Other students also gathered around Sun Dianying and asked, "Chief Sun, you will protect us, right?" ”
Looking at the student's sincere gaze, Sun Dianying was somewhat touched, and he was silent for a while and said, "Yes." He thought that as a general of the army, he should also take on some responsibilities and guard Chifeng well.
However, shortly after he arrived, the main general Tang Yulin fled with his army, and Sun Dianying instantly fell into a state of fighting alone.
In fact, at this time, Sun Dianxiang also wanted to escape, but he remembered the promise he had made to the students and stayed.
On March 2, the Japanese set up artillery under Chifeng City and continued to attack the city, but because Tang Yulin escaped, the cannon could not be delivered, and Sun Dianxiang had to take people to the city wall to die.
Seeing that the city gate was difficult to break, the Japanese army began to bombard the city wall and houses of Chifeng, and soon, Chifeng City was opened up, and a group of Japanese troops began to enter Chifeng City.
Under such circumstances, Sun Dianying decided to ambush the city and engage the Japanese until the ghosts were driven out of Chifeng. The governor of Chifeng County, considering the safety of the residents of the city, pleaded with Sun Dianying to withdraw his troops, and under the persuasion of the county magistrate, Sun Dianying had to rush out of Chifeng City with his men.
However, Sun Dianying did not give up resistance, after he left the city, he built a line of fortifications outside the city, continued to fight fiercely with the Japanese army, Sun Dianying's troops suffered heavy losses, the soldiers fell on the position one by one, Sun Dianying's whole body was already stained with blood and dirt, he roared loudly, and the corners of his mouth even bleeded.
On March 8, a large japanese army rushed to support and broke through the defense line of Sun Dianying's troops, and Sun Dianying had to lead the troops to retreat.
Although Chifeng was still lost, Sun Dianxiang was praised by our army for 7 days of bloody battles with the Japanese army in Chifeng, and later Sun Dianxiang gave some guns to the Eighth Route Army by chance, gave them some guns to make way for the Eighth Route Army, also gave them some guns, and reused some Communists.
It was precisely because of these things that Sun Dianying was given preferential treatment by our party, and after he was arrested and sent to prison, he also sent a soldier to take care of him, but because he had been smoking opium for a long time and was depressed because he had lost the battle, his health was getting worse and worse.
On his deathbed, Sun Dianying said to the soldiers who took care of him: "I am a bad person, the Communist Party does not care about the previous accusations, and I am so ashamed to be so good to me." On September 30, 1947, the "Tanglin Thief" left the world with remorse.
