On January 18, in the potato storage cellar of The Da Nong Company in Desheng Village, Xiaoertai Town, Zhangbei County, Zhangjiakou City, several kilns were brightly lit, and cui Youbao, a miniature potato grower, was counting the number of grains with a few machines with hired workers, and a miniature potato the size of a quail egg was rolling in line on the machine, and the numbers on the electronic screen kept "jumping up", and next to the machine were several bags of miniature potatoes that had been counted and tied.

Cui Youbao, 64 years old this year, can be regarded as a micro potato grower in Desheng Village. He contracted 8 miniature potato sheds and planted more than 30 acres of field potatoes. "In 2021, I selected a new variety of 'Fertile Soil No. 5' in 3 sheds, and one grain can sell for 500,000 cents, and I have received more than 500,000 grains of this variety alone." Cui Youbao said hehehehe.

Cui Youbao has dealt with potatoes all his life. "Potatoes are a specialty of Zhangbei, Desheng Village has been growing potatoes for generations, I grew up eating potatoes, and when I grew up, I planted potatoes. In the past, we planted potatoes in the field, which were not competitive in the market, and the income from planting in a year was at most enough to solve the problem of food and clothing. Cui Youbao said with a smile, "Like now, we grow potatoes 'grandpa', selling them according to grains, and not worrying about sales at all." The village also registered a trademark for potatoes, called 'Yufu Desheng'. ”

From no one to today's hot, why has the potatoes in Desheng Village made a "big turnaround"?

"It was the general secretary who sought a way to get rich for us, and the 'little potato' became the 'golden bean'!" Cui Youbao's gratitude was overflowing.

On January 24, 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping came to Desheng Village to visit and comfort the poor people, and worked with the cadres and the masses to calculate poverty alleviation accounts and seek poverty alleviation plans. The arrival of the general secretary is like a mighty spring breeze blowing into Desheng Village. Since then, Desheng Village has ushered in a new spring of development.

"Nowadays, the miniature potato cultivation in Desheng Village has long been sold well throughout the country. In Desheng Village, micro potato growing farmers have reached more than 180 households, this alone, the per capita annual income is nearly 5,000 yuan, in 2021 Desheng Village micro potato planting output value has exceeded 10 million yuan. Ye Runbing, secretary of the village party branch, introduced happily.

The industry is bigger and stronger, and the days are getting better and better. "It is necessary to organically combine poverty alleviation and development, modern agricultural development, and the construction of beautiful villages to realize the prosperity of peasants, strong agriculture, and rural beauty." Bearing in mind the general secretary's entrustment, in 2017, Desheng Village demolished two natural villages, unified planning, and built 140 new residential houses, becoming a new village of Desheng that integrates livability and leisure tourism. Zhangbei Desheng Homestay Industry Development Co., Ltd. has built another 40 homestays near Desheng New Village as a pilot demonstration area to attract tourists and promote the development of local tourism by creating boutique homestays.

Sun Guiying is 58 years old and has lived in Desheng Village for most of his life. In the summer of 2019, she got the key to her new house, and looking at the beautiful two-story building in front of her, Sun Guiying's heart came alive.

"Our village is very close to the grassland tianlu and the Zhongdu grassland, and July and August are the peak tourist season in zhangbei." Sun Guiying took care of the two small villas in the village to the homestay company, with an annual rent of 30,000 yuan.

Like Sun Guiying, many villagers in Desheng Village have rented their houses to the company. "At present, 16 villagers have entrusted the idle housing to the company as a homestay, and 10 villagers work in the company, doing the work of homestay housekeeper or cleaning." Ye Runbing introduced that last year's peak tourist season homestay occupancy rate reached 100%.

The year is approaching, the villagers of Desheng Village in the past "cat winter" as soon as winter enters, but today's Desheng villagers are still busy for "better days".

"The more we celebrate the New Year, the more we have orders every day." In the winter greenhouse where hydroponic vegetables are grown, technician Liu Yurong and a few villagers are busy picking vegetables, picking vegetables and packing boxes.

In October 2020, Desheng Village built seven winter-warmed greenhouses on the wasteland south of the village to try to grow hydroponic vegetables. "This is our modern agricultural greenhouse planting area, the nursery area in the shed, the demonstration planting area, the production area zoning control, we grow vegetables without soil, without fertilizer, sell vegetables regardless of pounds, sell by tree." Liu Yurong introduced that hydroponic vegetables produce a stubble in an average of 50 days, 7 to 8 stubbles a year, a greenhouse can produce more than 50,000 lettuce, and 7 greenhouses can produce more than 300,000 trees.

Ye Runbing recorded the collective income of Desheng Village in the past year: 970,000 yuan of micro potato greenhouses, 600,000 photovoltaic power generation, 110,000 storage cellars, and 380,000 hydroponic vegetables, a total of 2.06 million.
