Songjiang Enterprise participated in the production of the Winter Olympics-themed TV series "Beyond" CCTV hit, and the chief screenwriter shared with you the behind-the-scenes story of script creation

In a conference room of Shanghai Lemon Meng Film and Television Media Co., Ltd., the reporter met Li Jia, the chief screenwriter of the TV series "Beyond". When talking about the selection of the theme, Li Jia said that the selection of the theme of short track speed skating was carefully considered and deeply investigated. "After our research, we found that short track speed skating is a sport with a deep historical heritage. Since the establishment of the team in the 1980s, after more than 30 years of accumulation, the overall performance of mainland short track speed skaters is very prominent, like the 13 gold medals in the Winter Olympics, 10 of which are short track speed skaters. So we think this theme is the most preferred. Li Jia said.

Li Jia introduced that after locking in the theme, it entered the substantive stage of script creation. In order to more solidly reflect the ups and downs of China's short track speed skating for more than 30 years, the script creation of the play lasted more than a year, of which the script research alone took more than three months, and nearly 100 in-depth interviews were done, forming more than 600,000 words of interview material. "In the initial interview, we spent about three months of research, focusing on the Heilongjiang provincial team and the Qingdao team, following the team members to observe their training and daily diet, etc., we interviewed nearly 100 people, including athletes, coaches, referees, team doctors, and even related professions such as equipment dealers and ice pourers." Li Jia said.

When it comes to character creation, Li Jia said that "Beyond" not only shows the glory brought by the champion, but also portrays the strivers, the injured, the wandering, the losers, and truly shows the different life paths of athletes. In order to show the new era "transcendence" spirit and excellent image of three generations of Chinese short track speed skaters on and off the field, inside and outside of life, the script team has really made a lot of efforts. Although the characters in the show do not have a character archetype, the source of the plot is the story of many real people in the mainland short track speed skating career. "Initially, we considered a rendition based on one archetype, but quickly abandoned the idea because writing anyone's biography wasn't enough to give the whole picture of the group. We decided to portray a group portrait to represent the overall style of a group of people in this field. In the investigation, we excavated and built the character relationship according to the clues, and confirmed the idea with the real basis, and the scenes and character relationships of each character set in the plot were based. ”

At the end of the interview, Li Jia said that the Beijing Winter Olympics are about to be held, and he hopes that the popularity of the drama will allow more people to understand short track speed skating, like ice and snow sports, and then participate in it together to experience the unique charm of ice and snow sports.
