Public Network poster news reporters Zhang Wen and Zhang Jiawei reported in Qingdao

"Perhaps, many people think that women should not be pilots; or perhaps, many people will feel that women cannot beat the profession of flying. But I think flying is gender-neutral. ”

The person who said this was Gao Song, born in 1991, an authentic Qingdao girl. In 2018, she was originally engaged in fire investigation work in the Laoshan Fire Rescue Brigade and was selected as the first pilot of the Qingdao Fire Rescue Detachment. Today, as the only female pilot in China's firefighting, Gao Song's total flight time has exceeded 300 hours.

From a fire investigator to a helicopter pilot, what has Gao Song experienced in the past four years? Today, let's step into her story and explore the flight path of a female pilot.

In 2018, Gao Song became the first pilot of the Qingdao Fire Rescue Detachment.

From fire investigators to pilots, people who have dreams must chase them

"Spread your wings and fly high, and hold the clouds and hold the fog to pull the long rainbow." The first time I saw Gao Song, in the compound of the Qingdao Fire Training Base, tied up with a ponytail, a flame blue crisp and neat, holding a flying helmet, a cool girl, more eye-catching than the Ka-32A11BC fire helicopter behind her.

It was a companion with Gao Song for two years, and Gao Song likened it to the wings of a firefighter, carrying them toward the trapped and toward the faith of rescue.

In fact, the first 27 years of Gao Song's life had nothing to do with pilots at all. None of my family, or even my relatives or friends, had ever been involved in flying-related industries.

After graduating from the former Chinese People's Armed Police Force College in 2016, Gao Song entered the Laoshan Fire Rescue Brigade and has been engaged in fire investigation work, in Gao Song's own words, "In the fire investigation industry has been relatively handy." ”

If life had been like this, after many years, Gao Song might have become an expert in the field of fire investigation. "Life may be more ordinary and comfortable, working nine to five every day, doing what I have studied."

High song in the cockpit

"If people have dreams, they must chase them." Gao Song said that if she went back three or four years, she might never have imagined that she would one day become a helicopter pilot. Everything changed in 2018. That year, the Qingdao Fire Rescue Detachment organized the selection of pilots. Gao Song said that this news seemed to have pressed the accelerator button of her heart at once, making her heart flutter.

"I've loved flying since I was a kid and I've always thought piloting is a very cool profession." Perhaps out of fear of danger, or concern about uncharted territory, the family did not approve of Gao Song's decision at first. "In addition to the danger, the family is also worried that having mastered a skill, it will be difficult to go into an industry that has never been exposed to before." But I felt at the time that after all, it was my dream, and it was also the life I had always wanted to touch. ”

Stemming from her yearning for the sky, Gao Song took the initiative to participate in the registration and became the first pilot selected for the Qingdao Fire Rescue Detachment in 2018, and the only girl.

Stay up late every day until two or three o'clock in the morning and learn 13 professional flight courses in half a year

After registration, Gao Song learned that in fact, the selection criteria for fire pilots are very strict, and the same as the standards for military pilots, there are many subjects for testing, and to test the ability to resist vertigo, it will be reversed in a chair for 20 turns, and there is balance ability and so on.

"At the time of selection, considering that the profession we will engage in in the future is mainly rescue, so at that time, the physical examination of civil aviation and military aviation was combined, which was very strict and eliminated many people." After layers of selection, Gao Song stayed until the end and was sent to the Civil Aviation Flight Academy of China in Sichuan to learn flight theory for half a year.

Learn the theory of flight by Gao Song

Gao Song said that for her to become a halfway monk, it is as difficult to master 13 professional courses in half a year. "These 13 courses are all related to flying, I have never been exposed to it before, and all I have learned is the principle of aviation, the principle of mechanics, which is actually quite difficult for a girl."

As soon as I got started, I encountered serious challenges. In order to complete these 13 courses in a short period of time, Gao Song could only choose to stay up late and work overtime every day, breaking the time of the day into two days. "I feel like I'm never running out of time, 24 hours a day, and I wish I could have 48 hours for myself." Basically, I have to stay up late every day, and it is early until two or three in the morning. Gao Song said that for 6 months, she basically did not go to bed earlier than two o'clock in the morning.

Stay up late every day to study, and you can't delay the daytime course the next day. "There are eight lessons during the day, each 45 minutes long, and the efficiency of these eight lessons must be guaranteed." In the end, by doubling down on his efforts, Gao Song passed all the exams with excellent results.

I can make up for it, and I can do what boys can do

After passing the theoretical level and finally getting into contact with helicopters, Gao Song found that theoretical knowledge was not the most difficult.

"When it comes to actual operation, there is a feeling of inadequacy. Although I understand and know how to do many principles and operating techniques, I can't do them when I actually do them. This made Gao Song particularly anxious, but the more anxious he was, the worse the operation became, and he fell into a vicious circle.

Hovering, this is the first technique that Gao Song first learned when he first started, and it also made Gao Song pay the most sweat. "A lot of people think that helicopters are more difficult to operate when they fly. In fact, it is not, when the helicopter hovers, it is the most difficult, so that the aircraft is fixed at a certain height. ”

Because the helicopter's operating lever is very sensitive, if the force is too large, it is easy to cause the fuselage to shake continuously. If there are lifeguards below, it may cause injuries to personnel, and heavy may lead to helicopter accidents. When hovering, the wind, wind speed and other climatic environments are different every time, and these data are also changing all the time, which requires flexible adjustment through the control lever.

"Girls' operational ability and coordination are slightly worse than boys' behavior, and many technical boys can master it in 5 hours (flight time), and I have to spend one or two hours more than them to master." Because there was only one girl, afraid that if she fell behind too much, she would be eliminated, and Gao Song, who was impatient, had to go to the instructor for advice.

The high song of the helicopter is being inspected

Following the instructor's advice, Gao Song went to the market to buy two thinnest mineral water bottles and simulated two operating levers for practice. "When you're nervous or stiff, the bottle makes a sound."

Practice the ground and fly fine in the air. After the self-study at 8 o'clock every day, Gao Song simulated it over and over on the playground. Finally, after a week of hard work, she mastered the hovering technique. In the end, when the flight time was 5 hours, he successfully passed the examination.

In July 2019, Gao Song flew solo for the first time, and she still remembers the situation at that time.

"It was really uncomfortable at the time. Originally, our cockpit was two aircraft seats, and there were instructors around all the time. Although he will not help you operate, as long as he has a bottom in his heart. Gao Song said that on the day of the solo flight, her passenger seat was a sandbag.

"When I took off, I suddenly saw that there was no one next to me, and my heart was still panicked, and I really realized that I had to fly the plane alone." Gao Song said that when flying the first lap, it was more panic and nervousness, and he kept a close eye on the dashboard and looked at the engine data, afraid that there would be any failures that could not be dealt with. It was not until the second lap that Gao Song slowly adapted, "The third lap was stable driving, and it can also be said that he defeated himself." ”

"On the ground you have to repeat the practice, really memorize, you go up and fly again, you can be handy." 」 After a year of flying training, Gao Song finally became a real helicopter pilot with a total flight time of 185 hours.

"At that time, I was particularly proud, and I felt that this year and a half of hard work had not been in vain, and it was worth staying up for more nights and practicing more." After passing the examination, Gao Song called his father for the first time and told him that his daughter had done it.

In fact, as a female pilot, I would have to work harder than other male pilots. Gao Song said bluntly that when she first started to contact flying, she also played a retreat drum. "I have been distressed, frustrated, and reflected on whether I am really not suitable for this line of work."

"The opportunity I have won so hard is also a dream that I have always had, and I can't drop the chain." Whenever he couldn't hold on, Gao Song cheered himself up like this. "I think boys can do what I can do."

Civil Aviation Police Aviation Dual License, can fly four types of aircraft as long as the state can continue to fly

After graduation, Gao Song became a pilot in the Aviation Rescue Brigade of qingdao Fire Rescue Detachment, mainly responsible for mountain fire fighting, sea rescue, low-altitude patrol and other tasks. "From a firefighter to a fire extinguisher, the responsibilities are different, and the responsibilities are greater."

The first flight after graduation was in an exercise. This also allowed Gao Song to find that although it was a drill, the difficulty of operation and the environment and flying at the school's teaching base were not the same thing at all.

Because the air flow of the teaching base is relatively stable, and in the face of rescue in different scenarios, the air flow in different mountainous areas and different sections is different. "Really to the upper part of the fire point, really nervous, sweat unconsciously flowed down, there is a feeling of uncontrollable, the whole body is nervous, the whole body is working hard."

"The most impressive thing was the fight against a mountain forest fire we organized earlier. Because you need to use a bucket, you have to fill it with 5 tons of water. The bucket will swing under the influence of the air flow, and if it is not properly controlled, it will cause the body to swing. Since he was not particularly experienced at that time, Gao Song not only did not control the swing, but caused a greater swing.

"At that time, I was very nervous inside, afraid that if the swing was too large, it would directly lead to a rollover like a pendulum." In addition, the air flow in the mountains on that day was particularly unstable, and it was difficult not to know which direction there would be air currents. Fortunately, the technology mastery is relatively solid, and Gao Song successfully completed the task that time.

Today, Gao Song's total flight time has reached 348 hours

Friends around her all feel that the profession of pilot shines with light, but Gao Song does not think so, she feels that this profession is more of a responsibility. "Fire pilots, not only pilots, but also firefighters. Fire fighting and rescue is a responsibility, and the trapped or rescued are waiting for you. ”

Today, as one of the six pilots of Qingdao Fire Brigade and the only female pilot of China's Fire Department, Gao Song has a total flight time of 348 hours, not only obtained a double license of civil aviation police, but also can fly four different models.

Gao Song said that she was lucky to be a pilot, but she was also a firefighter, also in the rescue, but the position was different. If there is no flight mission, Gao Song will spend a day to carry out theoretical study and physical training, and occasionally do some clerical work. In life, Gao Song said that she is a slow and hot person, somewhat introverted, and her hobbies are yoga and dancing, which is a strong contrast with when she pilots a helicopter.

"As long as I'm in a good state, I want to keep flying." Gao Song said that she now has the qualification of co-pilot, and hopes to accumulate more flight experience in the future, participate in more actual battles and drills, and become a captain at an early date. "A lot of people feel like we're the light of the trapped. In fact, we are also a team flying towards the light. ”
