Today, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the 2021 domestic mobile phone market operation analysis report. The report shows that in the whole year of 2021, the overall shipment of mobile phones in the domestic market totaled 351 million units, an increase of 13.9% year-on-year.
In the whole year of 2021, the shipment volume of domestic brand mobile phones totaled 304 million units, an increase of 12.6% year-on-year, accounting for 86.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. In other words, nearly 87 people in every 100 people buy domestic mobile phones.
At the same time, a total of 438 new models were listed, an increase of 6.3% year-on-year, accounting for 90.7% of the number of new mobile phone models listed in the same period.
5G mobile phones have become the trend of the times, in 2021, 5G mobile phone shipments of 266 million units, an increase of 63.5% year-on-year, accounting for 75.9% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. In November and December 2021, 5G mobile phones accounted for more than 80%.
Not all mobile phones are smartphones, and in 2021, smartphone shipments were 343 million units, an increase of 15.9% year-on-year, accounting for 97.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. 82.1% of the number of new models on the market.
In the whole year of 2021, a total of 404 new models of smart phones were listed, an increase of 11.0% year-on-year, accounting for 83.6% of the number of new models listed in the same period, which shows that feature phones still have a huge audience.
