As we all know, Puyi was the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty and the last emperor in Chinese history. Before the death of the Guangxu Emperor, Empress Dowager Cixi ordered Puyi to be raised in the palace. Cixi experienced three emperors in her lifetime, two of whom were toyed with by her. According to her thoughts, even if Guangxu died, she would still be the master of the Great Qing. So she reserved a spare chess piece in advance, that is, the 3-year-old Puyi.

What Cixi did not expect was that the day after the death of the Guangxu Emperor, she would also return to the west, so the plan did not catch up with the change. However, before Cixi's death, it was announced that Puyi would inherit the imperial throne, inheriting the Tongzhi Emperor Zaichun, and at the same time inheriting the Guangxu Emperor's ancestral position [tiāo], one person with two houses. On December 2, 1908, Puyi ascended the throne at the Taihe Temple, and was regent by Guangxu's Empress Longyu and her biological father Zaifeng. The following year, the era name was changed to "Xuan reunification".

Puyi was only 3 years old when he succeeded to the throne, and he couldn't even recognize all the words, what else could he be expected to do for the Qing Dynasty? Therefore, the government was basically controlled by his father Zaifeng. However, Zaifeng, the regent, lacked ability, and was also lacking in the Qing Dynasty at sunset. However, he was wary of the powerful minister Yuan Shikai, and used his power to drive Yuan Shikai back to his hometown. As for Empress Longyu, a woman and Taoist family, she did not have Cixi's ambitions and skills, so her influence on the political situation of the Great Qing Dynasty was minimal.
Three years later, the news of the Wuchang uprising came, and the Qing court was shaken. Zaifeng sent the Minister of War, Liu Chang, to lead the Beiyang army to the south to quell the rebellion, but Zaifeng commanded the Beiyang Army. At this time, Zaifeng learned that the Beiyang Army had become Yuan Shikai's personal armed force. There was no way, for the safety of the Qing Dynasty, Zaifeng had to ask Yuan Shikai to come out of the mountain. Is Yuan Shikai the one who let you come and go as you please? Therefore, this time, the lion opened his mouth and proposed to organize the responsible cabinet and give him full authority to command the land and water armies. Later, under the persecution of Yuan Shikai, Zaifeng resigned from the position of regent of the jianguo, and Yuan Shikai took charge of the government.
Puyi was expelled from the palace
Yuan Shikai sent people to negotiate with the Southern Revolutionary Party, and finally reached a unified opinion: the Qing Emperor Puyi abdicated, and he became the president of the Republic of China. After Puyi announced his abdication, the Government of the Republic of China signed the Regulations on Preferential Treatment of the Qing Dynasty with the Sunqing Imperial Family. According to the regulations, Puyi and the Sunqing royal family could continue to live in the Forbidden City, and the Republic of China government would pay 4 million taels of silver yuan per year for the clearance fee. After the issuance of the new currency, it was changed to 4 million yuan.

Originally, Puyi had a carefree life in the Forbidden City, but in the Second Zhifeng War, Feng Yuxiang, commander-in-chief of the Third Army of the Zhi Army, suddenly defected to Beijing, not only put under house arrest the bribery of the election of President Cao Kun, but also ordered Puyi to be expelled from the Forbidden City. The person who led people to drive away Puyi was Lu Zhonglin under Feng Yuxiang's command. Lu Zhonglin only gave Puyi 3 hours of packing time, and Puyi was not allowed to carry valuables in the palace. Puyi wrote in "The First Half of My Life": "They said that they would all move out within three hours! So what to do? What about my property? What about toffee?"

Lu Zhonglin urged: "Give you another 20 minutes, 20 minutes can't move again, Jingshan will open fire..." Under Lu Zhonglin's intimidation, Puyi moved out of the palace with Wanrong and Wenxiu. Before Puyi left, Lu Zhonglin said to him viciously, "If you let me know that you still want to be emperor, I will kill you!" Puyi immediately fled after hearing this. Puyi had a lot of things happen after he walked out of the Forbidden City, and he was also used by the Japanese to become the ruler of the puppet state of Manchukuo. After Japan's defeat, he was imprisoned in the Fushun War Criminals Management Center. Later, after amnesty, he became an ordinary citizen of new China.

In his later years, Puyi encountered an old man when he was visiting the Forbidden City, and his face suddenly turned iron blue. It turned out that this old man was the same Lu Zhonglin who had expelled him from the palace. Lu Zhonglin's words at that time still echoed in his ears, and Puyi's incident in pseudo-Manchuria was also known to the whole world. Therefore, he was very worried that Lu Zhonglin would kill him. But Lu Zhonglin smiled and said to him, "Don't be nervous, I won't kill you." Everyone is a citizen of new China, and you are no longer an emperor, so what is there to be nervous about?" Gradually, Puyi was no longer restrained, chatted with Lu Zhonglin, and the two also toured the Forbidden City together.
