According to foreign media reports, Alexander Klose, the overseas regional CEO of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer AIWAYS, said in an interview with The German "Economic Weekly" that AIWAYS is considering producing cars in Europe, and Germany is one of the possible locations.

As Aichi's Executive Vice President Overseas, Klose is responsible for the company's overseas activities and is also responsible for product strategy. Klose revealed that Aichi has always wanted to combine production with battery manufacturing by external organizations. "We haven't identified a site yet, but we already have several candidate sites. We prefer to use existing factories, but it depends. ”

Klose did not give any further details about possible locations in Germany and Europe, but noted that those considerations were still in their infancy. Regarding "it is best to use existing factories", the German "Economic Weekly" pointed out that European automotive plants such as Opel have a large number of overcapacity problems.

Founded in 2017, AIWAYS currently produces the U5 at its plant in Shangrao, China, which can produce 150,000 cars a year and could reach 300,000 after a later expansion. The plant consists of a press shop, a body shop, a paint shop, a battery packaging shop and an assembly shop.

Klose revealed that last year, Aichi sold thousands of cars in Germany. In 2022, the company aims to sell more than 10,000 copies in Germany.
