Zuo Dayue saw that the tea leaves in Chairman Mao's cup were standing upright, and suddenly came a sentence: "Chairman, I am thirsty and want to drink your tea!" The chairman said, "Then you drink tea, and we will drink a glass of water together!" He said and handed his cup to Zuo Dayue, who took the cup and really drank two big mouthfuls.

Zuo Dayu is a famous Xiang opera performance artist, but she also has another widely familiar identity, that is, the guanyin bodhisattva in the 83rd edition of "Journey to the West", and the guanyin bodhisattva she plays is the most popular guanyin bodhisattva image in mainland China.
In 1956, when the Xiang opera juvenile training class gave a debriefing performance to Chairman Mao in Beijing, Zuo Dayue was only 13 years old, and that was the first time he met Chairman Mao. After the show, the children all rushed to the chair where the chairman had sat and sat in the chair where the chairman had sat.
Three years later, in 1959, the 16-year-old Zuo Dayue was already a well-known Xiang opera actor, and in 1960 he was awarded the title of Young Performing Artist of Hunan Province. One day in 1959, she suddenly received a phone call, and at the Hunan Provincial Communication Office, she performed the Xiang opera "Life and Death Card", in which Zuo Dayue played the protagonist Wang Yuhuan. As soon as she took the stage, Zuo Dayue found that Chairman Mao was actually sitting below, which frightened her so much that she almost forgot her words, so she quickly calmed down and smoothly performed the whole scene.
After the play, a female comrade found Zuo Dayue and said that Chairman Mao liked your performance, and the chairman might come to dance later, so you should stay and dance with the chairman. Zuo Dayue couldn't dance at that time, but when she heard that Chairman Mao might come, she decided to stay, and the female comrade found someone to teach Zuo Dayue to dance. That female comrade was the famous photographer Hou Bo, who taught Zuo Dayue to dance was Chairman Mao's guard Xiao Feng, and after teaching, he directly came to the tall Chairman Mao and danced a dance with the chairman, so nervous that Zuo Dayue sweated.
After that, when Chairman Mao came to Hunan, the province would call Zuo Dayue over, perform, and then dance with the chairman. The chairman's first dance usually invites the wife of the secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, followed by the famous performance artists Peng Linong and Liu Chunquan of the Xiang Theater, and the fourth is often Zuo Dayue.
Gradually, Zuo Dayue became more and more acquainted with the chairman, and he actually became a friend of the year
。
The staff around the chairman were afraid that the chairman was too tired, so they said to Zuo Dayue: "The chairman likes you very much, and when you finish a dance, you can pull him to sit down and rest for a while!" ”
Once, Zuo Dayue pulled the chairman to sit down on the sofa in the corridor, and Zuo Dayue suddenly found that the tea leaves in the chairman's cup were standing upright, so he asked the chairman what was going on. The chairman proudly introduced: "Doll, you don't understand this, this is the hair tip on Yueyang Jun mountain, it is a high-grade good tea, and the characteristic is that the roots are upright!" Zuo Dayue suddenly said, "Chairman, I am thirsty and want to taste your tea." The chairman laughed and said, "Okay! Doll, you drink, we both drink a cup of tea! Saying that, he handed the cup to Zuo Dayue, and Zuo Dayue took the cup and was not polite, and drank a few large sips.
Another time, the two were chatting. The chairman asked Zuo Dayue, "Doll, why is your son's surname Zuo Na?" Why not surname right? Zuo Dayue said, "My father's surname is Zuo, and my surname is Zuo!" Chairman: "Then why are you called Zuo Da Yue (fen)?" Zuo Dayue said, "Chairman, you read the white-eyed words!" That word does not pronounce fen, pronounce bin! The chairman said, "Doll, that's a polysyllabic word, you go back and ask your father, is that word still pronounced fen?" ”
Once, Zuo Dayue also took the chairman's hand and gave the chairman a number of "snails" (fingerprints "buckets") on his fingers, and there were ten of them. Zuo Da Yue said, "Ah! Chairman, you have ten snails, that is the emperor's order! The chairman laughed: "How many snails do you have in that doll?" "I only have one, I'm poor!"
When Teacher Zuo Dayue later recalled, he also told an interesting story. One day, the chairman's guard came to Zuo Dayue and said that the chairman had a cold, let him take medicine and he would not eat, we would persuade him again, he would lose his temper, you go, he was embarrassed to lose his temper with you. Zuo Da Yue took two pills and said, "Chairman, are you cold?" "Look at your voice has changed!" "Nothing, huh?" "It's changed, Chairman, you have to take your medicine, or you'll catch a cold, and talking to me like this will infect me!" You take medicine! "This medicine, eat too much is not good, do not eat!" "You have to eat!" "Then you will eat it, and if you eat it, I will eat it!" "Well, I'll take one grain and you'll eat one!"
Chairman Mao, like a child, took one pill, but only one pill was taking two that should have been taken. Zuo Dayue asked the guards for two more pills, and then the two of them ate one more. The guard said, you can help a lot, we are all dying!
Chairman Mao always liked the Xiang opera in his hometown until his old age, and in 1973, the Hunan Provincial Xiang Theater also rehearsed a video of the Xiang opera and sent it to the chairman for viewing. Yang Jie, the director of "Journey to the West", watched Zuo Dayue play the Guanyin Bodhisattva in the Xiang opera on CCTV, and only then did he remember this person, and Zuo Dayue was also well known to the people of the whole country because of the Guanyin Bodhisattva in "Journey to the West".
During the Cultural Revolution, Zuo Dayue was criticized for his father, who had been a senior counselor for Cheng Qian, and was sent to the countryside for two years. After returning to the city, in 1973, Zuo Da Yue participated in the rehearsal of "Gardener's Song", which was later made into a movie. Because there is a saying in it: "How can we bear the burden of revolution without culture!" Annoyed with Jiang Qing, she thought it was a satire on the typical white scroll hero Zhang Tiesheng who had built up her tree. In September 1973, "The Gardener's Song" was criticized nationwide and Zuo Da Yue was asked to review it in Beijing.
Worried that the hunan dialect review effect was not good, they asked Zuo Dayue to use Mandarin for review, and Zuo Dayue said without anger: "I can't speak Mandarin, Chairman Mao also speaks Hunan dialect, he can't speak Mandarin, I love my hometown, I can speak Hunan dialect!" ”
Just in 1979, Chairman Mao came to Hunan again, and in the performance program list, he specially circled "The Gardener's Song", and as soon as Zuo Dayue came to the stage, Chairman Mao said, Is this not Zuo Dayue's doll?
After the performance, Chairman Mao took the lead in applauding, and the staff around him said to the chairman: "Chairman, this is a big poisonous weed, and the whole country is criticizing it!" ”。 The chairman said, "I think it's pretty good!" What is a poisonous weed? It's a fragrant flower! Since then, the criticism of "Gardener's Song" has stopped, and Zuo Dayue has also escaped a bad situation!
Teacher Zuo Dayue is very fond of the traditional art of Xiang opera, after retiring in 2003, specializing in the inheritance of Xiang opera, now 65 years old Zuo Dayue, to attend 70 classes a week, every day to class, rehearsal demonstration up to more than ten hours, "A Hundred Flowers To Give the Sword", "Broken Bridge", "The Great Broken Heaven's Gate Array", "Bai Yue" and many other traditional famous dramas of the role of the play are her personal teaching rehearsals.
