With 17 days to go before the opening of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, today's "Winter Olympics Event", we want to focus on the Chinese figure skating legend group Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo.
Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics
At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the pair of "ice couples" stood on the highest podium in the pair skating event as desired, achieving a breakthrough of zero figure skating gold medals for the Chinese Winter Olympics. Looking back at the history of figure skating in China, Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo are the most shining links in countless miracles.
The Vancouver Winter Olympics is the fourth time that 31-year-old Shen Xue and 36-year-old Zhao Hongbo have participated in the Winter Olympics. The Chinese duo danced on the ice and enjoyed their last trip to the Winter Olympics. Zhao Hongbo recalled that he and Shen Xue did not show their best form in Vancouver, neither age nor competitive status, but they still seized the opportunity of the Russian team in the alternating stage of the old and new, and finally realized the biggest dream in their lives, holding this precious double skating gold medal in their hands.
From the first appearance of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, to the podium of the 2002 Salt Lake City and 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, to the perfect closing of the gold medal in Vancouver in 2010, the legendary story of Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo is as magnificent and brilliant as the struggle of Chinese figure skating.
In the 1990s, Figure Skating in China made great strides, winning a bronze medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics, followed by Chen Lu winning the World Championships in figure skating at Birmingham, England, at the 1995 World Championships. This is a landmark event for figure skating in China. In addition, through the efforts of our local coach Yao Bin, pair skating soon entered the world's advanced level in the early 21st century.
There are three pairs in Total in China, Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo, Pang Qing and Tong Jian, Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao. The three pairs of players have been on the world's top stage since the beginning of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century: first Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo won bronze medals at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics; then Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao won silver medals at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin; and then Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo finally won gold medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
The entire history of Chinese figure skating is not only the result of the continuous struggle, hard work and firm struggle of our Chinese figure skating community, but also the result of continuous exchanges and collisions with the world's advanced figure skating concepts.
On the eve of the Beijing Winter Olympics, I hope that the third generation of Chinese figure skaters represented by Sui Wenjing and Han Cong will be able to achieve good results at the Beijing Winter Olympics!
