This is the first time in the history of the Chinese team to qualify for the Nordic Biathlon Winter Olympics, and it also lays a solid foundation for the Chinese Ice and Snow Army to participate in the beijing Winter Olympic Games.
In Fang Xuefeng's view, when the concept of participating in the whole project was proposed, the most worrying thing people were whether the Nordic biathlon could get a seat in the Winter Olympics. Because Nordic skiing is a combination of cross-country skiing and ski jumping, after several years of efforts, China's Nordic biathlon has never been carried out in China to obtain an Olympic seat, and the progress and difficulty are quite amazing.

The second is that due to the acquisition of seats, it has actually enabled the Chinese delegation's ski jumping to participate in the relay competition. Because according to the relevant regulations of the International Olympic Committee, the athletes participating in the ski jump relay competition can be ski jumpers and Nordic athletes, that is to say, if there are no two male and two female jumpers participating in the competition, then the team can add a Nordic male athlete with two women and one male, or two female ski jumpers + two Nordic male athletes to participate in the team ski jumping competition. Therefore, in fact, this seat not only realizes the participation of all major events, but also enables China's ski jumping to achieve all-small competitions.
Third, the more important significance of this seat is that in the past less than four years, the Chinese sports community has adopted this cross-project selection model with great success. In terms of scientific training, the progress of our Nordic biathlon is entirely due to the famous Chinese rower Zhang Liang, who was urgently dispatched to the Nordic biathlon national team as the leader after winning the championship at the National Games in October 2021, after which Zhang Liang led by example to train with athletes, and brought some advanced rowing and other physical fitness training experience to the Nordic biathlon national team, while passing the wind tunnel test and a series of ways. As a result, the jumping ability of China's Nordic biathlon athletes has surpassed that of China's professional ski jumpers in just two months.
