The guards, police departments, and public security management offices of the Xinjiang Supervision Office carried out on-site investigations and investigations overnight.
Eight hours later, Sheng Shiqi's wife, Chen Xiuying, was detained for interrogation.
Sheng Shicai personally interrogated, used all kinds of torture, and even "lit the sky lamp" with cotton sauce on his nipples. Chen Xiuying, who had been tortured to death and lived to life, finally "confessed" and admitted that she had committed adultery with Xiao Zuoxin and Ma Jin, managers of the Xinjiang Native Products Company, together with Yao Zhizhong, the successor of Sheng Shicai's father-in-law Qiu Zongjun, and then, through the two of them, committed adultery with Soviet officers, and at their behest, shot sheng shiqi.
Yao Zhizhong was immediately arrested and also tortured and interrogated.
The next day, the Dihua newspaper reported the incident with the headline "The Great International Conspiracy" on the front page. Claiming that Chen Xiuying had committed adultery with a Soviet officer, and that at the instigation of Soviet adviser Ratov and Soviet Consul General in Xinjiang Bakurin, "killing her husband" was a "complicated conspiracy and rebellion case of an international character." On this grounds, 656 suspects, including department chiefs, local administrative chiefs, and military attachés, were arrested and 88 people were executed.
Chen Xiuying and Yao Zhizhong were both executed.
In June 1942, Sheng Shicai telegraphed Chiang Kai-shek that he was willing to submit to Chongqing wholeheartedly.
Is Chen Xiuying a real murderer?
Chen Xiuying's conviction was based entirely on a handwritten confession she wrote.
However, within the Xinjiang Supervision Office and the police and public security management offices, many people have objections to this case.
First, there are obvious traces of penmanship and fabrication in the confession.
