As one of the "four centers" in the "Ford China 2.0" strategy, the new Ford China Design Center, together with the Ford China Product Center, the Ford China New Energy Center and the Ford China Innovation Center, provides strong support for the Ford brand to continue to promote brand transformation in the world's largest automotive market.

To celebrate the official opening of the new design center, Ford China also unveiled a new generation of Mondeo in the new "potential energy aesthetics" design language for the world' premiere, ushering in a new start to 2022.
In addition to the design center, Ford China Dx Hub "Fuchuang Valley" also includes a number of cutting-edge innovation teams such as intelligent networking and digital experience team, cutting-edge trend research team and electrification team, and collaborates with the product center in Nanjing to further improve the efficiency of cross-departmental collaboration and innovation.
The new Ford China Design Center has the ability to design and develop products for the Chinese market, from design trend research, interior and exterior styling design, color material design, digital interaction experience design to digital model and full-size clay model production. It was upgraded from Ford China Forward Design Studio to include a full-scale sludge model workshop and judging hall with world-class facilities, the only full-featured design center in downtown Shanghai.

Ford Chinese designers can take full advantage of virtual reality and augmented reality to perform more tests before developing clay models and refine digital modeling. The sludge model workshop has the most advanced high-precision cantilever sludge milling machine, which can greatly improve the efficiency of sludge model production. After the physical model is made, the designer can immerse the sludge model in the professional review hall, combined with the 8K resolution ultra-high-definition LED giant screen and the latest virtual reality review equipment, and can make intuitive design changes on the sludge model at the first time, and then transmit the change data back through the 3D scanning device. At the same time, with Ford's global virtual reality real-time review system, the Chinese design team can conduct efficient online design exchanges and reviews with the design team on other continents at any time.

The design concept of "Potential Energy Aesthetics" is a new design language developed by Ford China's design team based on the aesthetic preferences of Chinese consumers, and the appearance of a new generation of Ford Mondeo comprehensively interprets the essence of Ford's new design concept from the three dimensions of "dynamic and flexible modeling", "Chuang • intelligent response" and "force and strong aura", and further confirms the continuous refinement and improvement of Ford China's design elements.
The extreme proportion of the front and back length of the new-generation Ford Mondeo vehicle, the streamlined top profile, the acceleration of the hood line and the swift shoulder line create an agile, smooth sense of movement, making the movement gene that Ford has always adhered to at a glance. The through-LED daytime running lights not only emphasize the visual width of the whole vehicle, but also exude aggressive deterrence. The tail and front face maintain a harmonious and consistent design, and the unique taillights incorporate classic three-dimensional design elements and outline the surrounding area with a sporty blackening treatment, visually once again emphasizing the body size, creating a beautiful feeling that is both refined and powerful.
The dynamic exterior design of the four-door coupe displayed by the new generation of Mondeo vividly interprets the basic performance principles of "movement", "creation" and "force". It all starts with a sharp forward-leaning posture at the front of the car, with a sharp forward-leaning posture, and a flexible momentum to write innovative inspiration that has never been seen before.
At the same time, a slender, extremely powerful sharp line extends backwards, running through the side of the body, and intersects at the rear of the car together with the strong shoulder line and the smooth and stretched roof curve of the car, and the three lines are cleverly integrated into the empty design of the ducktail tail box cover, in one go, depicting the charm of agility and speed. On the side of the body, the shoulder line and waist line are changed in a rich pattern, taking advantage of the light and shadow to show the dynamic beauty of the momentum - the shape under the door is tightened inward, and this concave surface is like the natural undulations of the muscles in the light.
Directly in front of the moving vehicle, the imposing and dynamic front face of the new generation of Mondeo contains more elements that can annotate the expressive principle of "Tron Intelligence". The daytime running lights that run across the front face have two angles on both sides of the body that resemble traditional Chinese calligraphy, and the sense of strength that weighs like a shoulder further reinforces the lateral width of the new generation of Mondeo and the sporting posture that is ready to go.
Ford's classic octagonal grille silhouette was inherited and dramatically treated on the new generation of Mondeo, with more exaggerated proportions and more radical shapes, and all the design elements of the front of the car radiated around it. The strong lines and three-dimensional shapes on the cover that continue from the front face are commonly found in the classic performance models of the Ford brand, which is the best footnote to the performance principle of "force and strong aura", and the atmosphere stretches and highlights the hidden Ford performance genes with "force".
A tribute to the classic also appears at the rear of the car, where the unique taillights incorporate classic three-dimensional design elements and outline the surroundings with a sporty blackened inner cavity treatment, visually once again emphasizing the body size – 23mm more in width and 63mm in length compared to the previous generation. The increase in body size also ensured that Ford's design team created a fairly generous, leading-edge occupant space while interpreting the dynamic styling with a "fast-back" roof.
The new generation of Ford Mondeo implements the principle of "creating and intelligently responding" to many designs of the whole car - just like the hidden door handles that create a streamlined body shape on the side of the car, which can achieve inductive popping; just like the Ford logo above the tail box cover, it is not only a static car logo design, but also has the function of the trunk opening button. Among these design elements, the most eye-catching should be the number of through-type headlights and breathing 3D parametric scale grilles, when the owner approaches the vehicle, the headlights will be lit in turn, and the grille scales are like breathing ups and downs, welcoming the arrival of the owner with a full sense of ceremony.
The design and development of the next generation of Ford Mondeo, led by the Ford China team and completed in collaboration with Ford's global design and engineering departments, aims to create creative and forward-looking new products to meet the world's largest automotive consumer market and deliver on the promise of "More Ford, More China". The new-generation Ford Mondeo will be produced by Changan Ford and will go public this year.
