In accordance with his last wishes, the funeral was simple, and no farewell ceremony was held. Feng Deying's novel masterpieces include "Bitter Cauliflower", "Yingchun Flower", "Mountain Chrysanthemum", etc., of which "Bitter Cauliflower" was selected into the "New China 70 Years 70 Novel Collection" and was adapted into movies and TV series, influencing generations.

Feng Deying was born in 1935, a native of Rushan, Shandong. At the beginning of 1949, he joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and entered the PLA Communications School to study, and after graduation, he served as a radio operator, a radio station chief, and a radar command platoon leader. In 1980, he returned to Shandong Province and successively served as the chairman of the Jinan Municipal Federation of Literature and Art, the editor-in-chief of Quancheng Literature and Art, the chairman of the Shandong Writers Association, the secretary of the party group, the editor-in-chief of Times Literature, etc., and concurrently served as the fourth director of the Chinese Writers Association, a member of the fifth and sixth presidiums, an honorary member of the seventh plenary committee, a member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and an honorary dean of the College of Literature of Jinan University.

According to the Shandong Writers Association, Feng Deying began to practice writing in 1953, engaged in professional writing in 1958, and became a member of the Chinese Writers Association. His novels "Bitter Cauliflower", "Yingchun Flower", "Mountain Chrysanthemum" and "Three Flowers" have become classics of contemporary literature in Shandong, in addition to "Blood-stained Land", "Clear Sky" and other long novels, "Feng Deying Short Story Selection", drama "Female Pilot" and other different types of creation, the works have been translated into Russian, Japanese, English, Vietnamese, Korean, Mongolian and other languages. Most of his novels are based on the lives of the people in the Jiaodong Revolutionary Base Area and the Liberated Areas during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, and have created many images of revolutionaries who can sing and cry, especially some female characters, which are very vivid and touching.

Feng Deying's debut novel "Bitter Cauliflower", created in the 1950s, has been adapted into movies and TV series, selected as a primary school language textbook, and has had a wide social impact, and in September 2019, it was selected into the "New China 70 Years 70 Novel Collection".
