Feng Deying, born in 1935 in Rushan, Shandong, joined the army in early 1949 and entered the Platon Army Communications School, and after graduation, he successively served as a newspaper operator, a radio station chief, and a radar command platoon leader.
Influenced by the famous writer Ke Lan, Feng Deying fell in love with literature after work. On the one hand, he read literary works with his hands inexhaustible volumes, and on the other hand, he had the impulse to write the story of the Jiaodong War of Resistance Revolution that he was familiar with.
In 1958, Feng Deying's first novel, Bitter Cauliflower, was published by the People's Liberation Army Literary and Art Publishing House. From the beginning of the year, he became a professional writer. The following year, the second novel, "Spring Flowers", came out.
In 1964, bayi Film Studio decided to bring "Bitter Cauliflower" to the screen. The film script was written and revised by Feng Deying himself, and the director was Li Ang, and the actors mainly starred Qu Yun, Yuan Xia, Yang Yaqin, Wang Zhigang and so on.
The film vividly depicts the inner world and noble sentiments of a great mother in Jiaodong before facing the choice of nation and individuality, life and death. In 2008, the novel "Mountain Chrysanthemum" was published by the People's Liberation Army Literature and Art Publishing House.
At this point, Feng Deying's "Three Flowers" series of novels was completed. In addition to the "Three Flowers" series, Feng Deying also has works such as "The Land of Blood", "Clear Sky", "Feng Deying's Collection of Short Stories" and so on. In 2019, "Bitter Cauliflower" was selected into the "New China 70 Years and 70 Novels Collection".
