A few days ago, a news from the Ningde era stirred up the new energy market.

Ningde Times official micro "high-profile" announced that the company intends to release the power exchange brand on January 18. Under the influence of this news, the Ningde era continued to rise after the opening of the market on January 17, and the stock price closed at 606.85 yuan / share on the same day, an increase of 5.1%.

Industry insiders believe that in 2021, the sales volume of electric heavy trucks will continue to grow, and the power exchange model will become a popular track in the new energy industry. In the power exchange mode, the demand for batteries for electric heavy trucks will rise rapidly in the next few years.

Mo Ke, chief analyst of True Lithium Research, told the "Securities Daily" reporter that the Ningde era was the first to launch a commercial scenario for changing heavy trucks in China, and then almost monopolized the market. Based on the great development of heavy trucks in 2021, the power exchange business is expected to reach a higher level in 2022.

The relevant person in charge of the Ningde era revealed to the "Securities Daily" reporter that the brand released this time will be for all car companies, and other more content details need to wait for release.

Ningde era "one big family"

According to electric truck observation data, from January to November 2021, the cumulative sales of electric heavy trucks reached 6840 units, an increase of 198.6% year-on-year; the monthly sales in November reached 1704 units, an increase of 668% year-on-year.

Zhang Xiang, a researcher at the Automotive Industry Innovation Research Center of The North China University of Technology, told the Securities Daily reporter that the sales of electric heavy trucks in 2021 have increased significantly, on the one hand, thanks to the substantial increase in battery energy density; on the other hand, it has a certain relationship with the state's introduction of power exchange incentive policies.

At present, major car companies have launched pure electric vehicles, but the market penetration rate is less than 1%. Before 2020, the annual sales of pure electric heavy trucks were only 3,000 to 5,000 vehicles. Zhang Xiang believes that as a new type of electric vehicle energy supplementation scheme, power replacement can solve the two core pain points of electric vehicle endurance and charging time, and electric heavy trucks and power exchange modes are sticky and can achieve better economic benefits.

In fact, in the process of commercialization of heavy trucks in China, ningde era is the first "crab eater". In July 2020, with the delivery of the first batch of Futian Zhilan new energy replacement heavy trucks, CATL released the first commercial application scenario of heavy energy replacement trucks in China. The power change heavy card can be completed in 3 minutes to 5 minutes. The vehicle-to-electricity separation mode allows the owner to reduce the investment in the early stage of purchase.

According to the data of true lithium research, from January to November 2021, the installed capacity of domestic electric heavy-duty truck power batteries is close to 3GWh, an increase of 305% year-on-year. Among them, the market share of one of the Ningde era reached 90%, and the top three enterprises in the installed capacity of the Ningde era, Yiwei lithium energy and BYD accounted for nearly 99%.

Mo Ke said that at present, there is a large space for changing heavy trucks in short-distance transportation scenarios, with 200,000 vehicles per year, a car 300 kWh of electricity, a year's battery demand will reach 60GWh, and it is expected to achieve 70% to 80% of the above goals by 2025. Judging from the above data, the power exchange business of the Ningde era has a large imagination space.

The market space for power exchange business has gradually opened

Power exchange technology is also one of the general directions of the current development of electric vehicles.

At the policy level, on April 23, 2020, the four ministries and commissions of the state clearly pointed out that they would support the development of new business models such as "separation of vehicles and electricity". The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has repeatedly expressed its support for the development of heavy trucks for power exchange. The 2021 government report proposes to vigorously develop substations and support the "separation of vehicles and electricity" model. In October 2021, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Notice on Launching the Pilot Application of the New Energy Vehicle Power Exchange Mode, and decided to start the pilot work of the application of the new energy vehicle power exchange mode. It is reported that there are 11 cities included in the scope of the pilot, including 8 cities with comprehensive applications (Beijing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Sanya, Chongqing, Changchun, Hefei, Jinan), and 3 cities with heavy truck characteristics (Yibin, Tangshan, Baotou).

The industry is generally optimistic about the development potential of the power exchange industry. The research institute believes that 2022 is the first year of the power station discharge, and the power exchange equipment manufacturers will benefit the most. It is estimated that in 2025, more than 16,000 new substations will be added, and the investment in new equipment will exceed 60 billion yuan.

In recent years, domestic car companies Weilai and BAIC have been laid out in the field of power exchange.

It is worth mentioning that the power exchange brand to be released by CATL will be for all car companies. In this regard, Zhang Xiang believes that in addition to electric heavy trucks, including online ride-hailing vehicles, they can also choose to change the power mode for rapid energy replenishment. In addition, some high-end cars and passenger cars can also choose to charge mainly to replace the way, such as equipped with two batteries to achieve rapid energy replenishment.
