Private pile installation is difficult, public charging pile "get up at four o'clock in the morning to grab", "private pile sharing" is feasible?

Recently, Ms. Wang told the Red Star Capital Bureau that she bought a pure electric vehicle, and the manufacturer came with a home charging pile, but because the residential property was not allowed to install it on the grounds of safety, she could only charge at the nearby charging station every Friday after work. In times such as peak car usage and shrinking mileage in winter, Ms. Wang needs to queue for an hour.

Ms. Wang contacted Mr. Li in a nearby community, hoping to share his charging pile, but finally gave up due to problems such as the inability of foreign vehicles to enter and the mismatch of models.

Red Star Capital Bureau has learned that many electric vehicle owners are facing the same dilemma as Ms. Wang. Electric vehicle charging should have been dominated by private charging piles, and public charging facilities are only temporary power supply needs. However, the installation of "private piles" is difficult, only half of the owners of car companies install, with the rapid growth of new energy vehicle ownership, more charging demand flocks to public charging facilities, forming a situation of "more monks and less porridge".

Recently, the topic of "is it feasible to share the private pile of electric vehicles" has aroused heated discussion among netizens. Industry insiders pointed out that "private pile sharing" is one of the breakthroughs to solve the problem of charging difficulties, but it faces practical problems such as charging, vehicle entry permits, safety responsibilities, and vehicle pile matching. Property is the biggest problem of "private pile sharing". Compared with "private pile sharing", public electric piles entering the community is the mainstream of the future.

Private pile installation is difficult, public charging pile "get up at four o'clock in the morning to grab", "private pile sharing" is feasible?

Charging facilities "can't keep up"

The owner got up at four o'clock in the morning to grab the charging pile

At the end of 2021, the temperature in various places has decreased, especially in the northern region, the mileage has shrunk, the battery is not charged enough, and the warm air is afraid to open, which makes the mileage anxiety of new energy owners appear again, and even some new energy car owners get up at four o'clock in the morning to grab charging piles, saying that "charging in winter is the same as stealing mines."

The growth rate of charging infrastructure cannot keep up with the growth rate of new energy vehicles, and the mismatch in charging capacity is the main reason for the difficulty of charging.

According to data from the Ministry of Public Security, by the end of 2021, the number of new energy vehicles in the country will be 7.84 million, an increase of 59.25% year-on-year. Among them, the number of pure electric vehicles was 6.4 million, an increase of 151.61% year-on-year.

According to the operation of the national electric vehicle charging and replacement infrastructure in 2021 released by the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance, by the end of 2021, member units have reported a total of 1.147 million public charging piles; the number of charging infrastructure in the country has reached 2.617 million units, an increase of 70.1% year-on-year. In 2021, the total charging capacity reached 11.15 billion kWh, an increase of 58.0% year-on-year.

Based on this calculation, the current new energy vehicle pile ratio is 3:1, that is, every 3 new energy vehicles share a charging pile. The ratio of public charging piles to new energy vehicles is as high as 6.8:1.

In addition, due to the location of some public charging piles, the unreasonable layout of the construction station, coupled with the adaptability of the vehicle piles and other issues, the average utilization rate of public charging piles is less than 10%.

Some auto industry insiders told the Red Star Capital Bureau, "The purchase of electric vehicles should be carefully considered, especially for users in the north, considering the shrinkage of winter battery life, battery charging dissatisfaction, etc., it is best to install home charging piles." ”

Half of the owners did not install home piles

Property is not cooperative, installation costs are high

However, installing home piles is not an easy task.

According to data from the Charging Alliance, the construction rate of household charging piles is 60%-70%. Employees of the special call told Red Star Capital Bureau that the allocation rate of private charging piles in first- and second-tier cities is only about 50%. The relevant person in charge of a number of new energy vehicle companies also said that even if it is given away for free, a large number of car owners still do not install home piles.

In December 2021, Shen Hui, the founder of WM Motor, said on Weibo, "Every time I hear the owner complain to me about the difficulty of installing the charging pile, my heart is very heavy." ”

Shen Hui, a private letter from the owner of the W6 W6 from Guangzhou, said that after nearly two months of picking up the car, his charging pile still could not be installed in the community. Found all parties, but the property is not approved, on the grounds that parking spaces can not be installed and electricity quotas, etc., always refused to stamp. The owner of the car said bluntly that he even regretted it a little.

Shen Hui said that in 2021, WM delivered more than 40,000 vehicles, but nearly 20,000 charging piles distributed with the car could not be sent. "Capacity, parking spaces, safety hazards, there are too many reasons for property rejection, users say that they are dead by the property."

A property company staff told Red Star Capital Bureau that the charging pile was not included in the planning when the community was built, and the transformer capacitance was not enough to meet the charging pile installation needs of too many people. "At present, more than 20 owners have installed charging piles and have reached the upper limit of capacitance." He revealed, "Last year, there were spontaneous combustion accidents in many places, and we are in the underground parking lot, which is more cautious about this." ”

Ms. Fang introduced to the Red Star Capital Bureau the materials she provided to the property for the installation of the home charging pile: first of all, to submit a written application for the installation of the charging pile, and to provide the real estate certificate, the parking space property certificate, the vehicle qualification certificate and the charging pile certificate (copy, the original check); then to apply to the property in writing to install the meter, and to provide the owner and the main engine factory, the charging pile seller signed the safety commitment letter, the business license and qualification (copy) of the charging pile installation company, the installation worker's ID card, the electrician's certificate (copy and stamped with the official seal), The insurance certificate of the charging pile company (copy and stamped with the official seal); finally, the route map of the charging pile installation should be submitted.

Ms. Fang tossed and turned for more than a month and found the headquarters of the property company to get approval. Since then, it has also been repeatedly coordinated with the property and owners' committees due to construction in public areas.

There are also some car owners who are deterred by the high cost of installation. For example, the installation cost of the domestic Tesla Model 3 charging pile is 8,000 yuan, which only contains 40 meters of cable, and the excess part is charged 70 yuan per meter, plus labor costs, about 10,000-20,000 yuan. The installation cost of NIO Automobile's (NIO.US) 20KW home charging pile is 16,800 yuan (including charging pile and 30 meters cable).

Is "private stake sharing" feasible?

Automotive analyst Liu Hao pointed out to Red Star Capital Bureau that the ideal situation is "one car and one pile", but this is not realistic, and it is necessary to take into account the affordability of the residential power grid, the cost of transformer expansion, fire safety and other factors. To solve the difficulty of charging, we must start from different scenarios, optimize the layout of charging infrastructure, provide more efficient and convenient charging places, technically promote high-voltage fast charging, and unify the interface to improve the adaptability of vehicle piles.

"Private pile sharing" is also an exploration to improve charging efficiency, which can enable limited charging piles to serve more electric vehicles.

Shen Hui pointed out that the result of "private pile sharing" is a win-win situation for all parties. He believes that although the new community has been able to plan the layout of charging piles in advance, it is really difficult for the old community to carry more private piles for various reasons. After "private pile sharing", it can not only reduce the load on the power grid, reduce the pressure on the property, but also allow the government to free up more resources for the construction of public piles. With the increase in the mileage of electric vehicles and the decrease in charging frequency, the idle rate of private piles will also increase. "Private pile sharing" fully improves the utilization rate of idle charging piles, provides benefits for pile users, and also provides convenience for pileless users.

In May 2021, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration issued the Implementation Opinions on Further Improving the Service Guarantee Capacity of Charging and Replacing Infrastructure (Draft for Comments), proposing to improve the promotion mechanism for the construction of charging piles in residential communities and encourage new models such as "sharing near parking spaces" and "multi-vehicle and one pile".

Although the "private pile sharing of electric vehicles" is encouraged, in reality, it faces problems such as temporary vehicles are not allowed to enter the community where the "private pile" is located, the pricing and charging of private pile charging, the occupation of parking spaces, equipment damage and spontaneous combustion of vehicle failure.

Zhu Yulong, founder of "Automotive Electronic Design", pointed out that from the current operation of APP, most of the shared private charging piles are actually useless. For the pile owner, his own priority is the most important, and the communication piles that can actually be seen are basically marked with the words "reservation required", "restricted access", "face-to-face transactions" and "offline charging".

Red Star Capital Bureau searched for the Weilai APP, and of the more than 80 charging and replacing resources in the local annex, only 4 were shared private piles, 3 charges needed to be negotiated with the pile owner, and one charged 1 yuan / kWh.

Private pile installation is difficult, public charging pile "get up at four o'clock in the morning to grab", "private pile sharing" is feasible?

According to data from the Prospective Industry Research Institute, only about 6% of private piles will participate in sharing in 2021.

In addition, most of the brand models matching private piles have the problem of interface incompatibility, even if the interface is compatible, but the model voltage and power are different, it is still impossible to achieve full mutual charging.

At present, only a few enterprises have laid out the private pile sharing business, according to the data released by the China Charging Alliance, as of the end of August 2021, only three pile companies in the alliance's member units have operated shared private piles, totaling 67,800 units, of which 66,500 units are operated by Star Charging. As of September 2021, there are more than 640,000 self-built charging device terminals on the Star Charging Platform, with a daily charging capacity of more than 8 million kWh; in June 2020, the monthly active users of the Star Charging APP reached 379,000. In addition, some car companies have also opened a shared private pile construction layout by establishing a private pile sharing platform for automobile brands.

Liu Hao pointed out to the Red Star Capital Bureau that the premise of private pile owners sharing electric piles will not affect their own charging and parking needs. Most pile owners share the electric pile during the daytime working hours, which overlaps with the charging demand side time, and the private electric pile is mostly a slow charging pile, and the foreign vehicle is not convenient. He believes that compared with "private pile sharing", public electric piles into the community is the mainstream of the future.
