During the War of Resistance Against Japan, when the "tough guys" who claimed to be invincible were full of provocations in front of the New Fourth Army, the commander ordered the shooting, and fell in a pool of blood in response, in addition to the "tough guys", there was also the status of feudalism in people's hearts.
To understand the course of this incident, we must understand one person, Commander Luo Binghui.
Sharpshooter Luo Binghui
No one expected that Luo Binghui, a child born in 1987 in a poor family in Yiliang, Yunnan, would later make a deed that could not be ignored for China's War of Resistance Against Japan. Luo Binghui, who lived under the oppression of the squires, developed a hard-working and persevering personality from an early age.
In 1915, he joined the army, because he worked hard in the ranks and fought bravely, and was promoted all the way to battalion commander. One day in August 1943, Luo Binghui, commander of the 2nd Division of the New Fourth Army, in order to inspire the soldiers to train well, told the story of giving the soldiers a shooting lesson that people can only see on television today— the story of himself who once shot three and a half enemies.
At that time, when he was still a platoon commander, when he received the arduous task of destroying an important communication bridge and stopping the enemy's advance, in the whole platoon of seventeen or eight people with only three guns that could be fired, in the absence of explosive equipment, Luo Binghui did not have the slightest fear, he carefully analyzed the situation and looked for the most favorable method for our army.
Luo Binghui led the fighters into an ambush, planning to wait for the enemy to approach before shooting. When the enemy slowly approached and formed a vertical row, Luo Binghui seized the opportunity, aimed at the chest of the first person, and fired a shot without hesitation.
The shot knocked out four men in the past, the rest were subdued by their men, and after the battle was over, all three others died except for the fourth one who was seriously wounded in the ribs. That's why it's "three and a half people".
When the locals' follow-up troops arrived, they engaged in a fierce confrontation with Luo Binghui across a river, and Luo Binghui fired several more shots at the enemy in the subsequent battle, all of which hit the enemy.
They used the captured weapons to fight the enemy until the evening, when the enemy could not get a bargain, and finally left a few corpses in a hurry and withdrew from the position. In this war, Luo Binghui captured eleven guns and did not suffer any casualties.
Luo Binghui has since become a famous sharpshooter in our army, according to his own statistics, in actual battles, the hit rate can reach more than 80 percent, and raising his hand to hit the birds in the trees is even more a matter of ten to nine for him.
The knife will
The Knife Society in the Huaibao area was originally a self-defense organization organized by the surrounding fishermen due to the persecution of bandits for many years, and they only united to protect themselves and once suppressed the bandits. However, due to the manipulation of landlords and squires, the knife club was eventually difficult to maintain, and was once disbanded.
In March 1939, due to the fall of Huai'an and other cities, the peasants near the canal area were deeply persecuted by the Japanese puppet army, a large number of bandits appeared in the Huaibao area, and a large number of Kuomintang personnel fled to the Huaibao area, and the common people were deeply trampled by various forces in such a turbulent situation.
Therefore, in order to protect themselves, the knife club slowly began to rise again, and people began to defend their hometown and protect themselves through the "knife club".
In the spring of 1939, the Knife Society arose again, with the purpose of fighting the Japanese army, preventing bandits, and the Kuomintang, which had a very wide influence and was supported by peasants in various regions.
After the Kuomintang Thirty-third Division occupied Huaibao, it did everything, so all over the country joined the Knife Society to fight against it, and the Knife Society once again became a local organization to protect the local villagers and fight against the enemy, all over Huaibao.
However, because the knife club did not have correct leadership and serious discipline, strict training, and relied on feudal superstitions to bring people together, the leader of the knife club eventually slowly became a local power faction and began to go astray.
When the New Fourth Army opened up the Huaibao area, the Kuomintang department Han Deloitte changed his attitude toward the Knife Society, he promised the Knife Society some conditions to buy the Knife Society, and took advantage of the people's fear to spread rumors and incite the masses to hate the Communist Party, and eventually the knife would be used by the Kuomintang and became the trump card in Han Deloitte's hands.
Down with superstition
In August 1940, when the new fourth army arrived in the Huaibao area, the members of the knife club used favorable cover to launch a surprise attack on the nearby new fourth army.
The members of the Knife Society and the hidden elements of the Kuomintang mixed together, lined up in several rows, almost like crazy, armed with large knives, shouting the slogan of "knives and guns do not enter, divine merit to protect the body", rushed to the ranks of the New Fourth Army, completely disregarding the political shouts of the New Fourth Army, and began to rob our army's guns.
The New Fourth Army saw that these people were not reactionaries and could not bear to shoot at them, so many soldiers were injured, and at this critical juncture, Luo Binghui ordered shooting. When these outlaws saw that their swords and guns had turned into knives and guns, they immediately scattered and fled.
After seeing the soldiers lying on the ground, Luo Binghui was very sad in his heart, so he planned to use the method of peace negotiations to know it. He did not want the muzzle of the gun to be pointed at his compatriots, and he wanted the knife club to put aside his prejudices and jointly build an anti-Japanese defense line.
However, the members of the Knife Society were still obstinate, and the next day they began to invade the New Fourth Army, still shouting the slogan of "knives and guns do not enter, can not die", frantically rushing to the ranks of the New Fourth Army and attacking the soldiers of our army. In this helpless situation, Luo Binghui could only order the shooting again.
At the meeting, Luo Binghui escorted one of the leaders of the knife society into the venue and said, "Aren't you invincible?" Let's give it a try? ”。
The leader of the knife club confidently agreed, and after a series of activities such as taking medicine and chanting, Luo Binghui ordered the shooting, and the leader of the knife club fell to the ground in response, and people no longer believed that "the knife and gun do not enter."
At this point, Luo Binghui still hoped to unite the knife club to resist Japan through peaceful negotiations.
However, the knife would soon kill a battalion commander and two of his subordinates of our army. Luo Binghui realized that this gang of "small knife clubs" was already of the nature of bandits and should be eliminated.

Since then, the counter-revolutionary wave of our army severely punishing the knife society, in the face of strong artillery fire, the bandits of the knife society have fallen to the ground, and the organization has collapsed.
In mid-August, the New Fourth Army launched a final encirclement and suppression of the Knife Society, and the anti-Knife Society activities entered a decisive battle period, and the last bandits were scattered by our army, and the ground snake used by Han Deloitte was finally disintegrated.
