In the ranks of the Red Army's Long March, this female soldier was the most special and had the hardest time

The great twenty-five thousand miles long march, the degree of its difficulty is rare in the world, for a male warrior is a test of life and death, let alone a female warrior.

In the ranks of the Central Red Army, 30 female soldiers finally arrived in Yan'an, and the one who had the hardest time walking was Yang Houzhen, one of the "Eight Big Sisters" in the Long March.

The name Yang Houzhen does not sound as loud as the names of Kang Keqing, Deng Yingchao and others, but her revolutionary experience is extraordinary.

In the ranks of the Red Army's Long March, this female soldier was the most special and had the hardest time

It is not unfounded to say that Yang Houzhen was the most difficult female warrior in the Long March.

First of all, she was the only woman with small feet in the Long March team.

Yang Houzhen is a native of Ruijin, Jiangxi, living in a feudal family, and began to wrap his feet when he was 5 years old. Later, a person who changed her fate appeared, that is, Luo Binghui, a famous military expert in our army, and the two married in 1927 and began to fight together.

It is reasonable to say that Yang Houzhen's situation cannot accompany the long march of the troops, and should stay in the Soviet area to continue fighting, and because she is a small-footed woman, it is relatively safer, because the Kuomintang generally does not interrogate small-footed women.

However, Yang Houzhen was determined to accompany the long march of the troops and applied to the organization many times, moreover, her husband Luo Binghui was the commander of the Red Ninth Army, so the organization finally approved Yang Houzhen to accompany the captain and organize her into the cadre recuperation company.

Please note that this cadre recuperation company is a company specially composed of veterans, female soldiers, and the wounded and sick by the central authorities, with a total of more than 300 people, including Dong Biwu, Xu Teli, Lin Boqu, Zhang Zongxun and others.

In the process of the Long March, Yang Houzhen overcame the unimaginable hardships of ordinary people, and within a few days of walking, her feet, which had been deformed, were swollen and could not walk. She sweated in pain, but she couldn't stick to the stretcher, stopped when she was tired, gritted her teeth and walked forward if she could, she had to keep up with the team, and gradually adapted to the intensity of the march.

Another reason for saying that Yang Houzhen was the most difficult female warrior in the Long March was that she had been seriously injured.

It was three months after the start of the Long March, when Yang Houzhen had just adapted to the rhythm of the march when he encountered an accident. One day, enemy planes chased after them and bombed them, and a bomb landed right next to her, and it was suddenly blown away, and by the time her comrades dug her out of the soil, there was no breath.

Everyone thought that she had been sacrificed, so they carried her aside, bought a coffin from the surrounding people, and prepared to bury her the next day.

The next morning, the troops were ready to leave, and Sister Kang Keqing led everyone to bid farewell to Yang Houzhen's "remains". At this moment, Kang Keqing suddenly noticed that the corners of Yang Houzhen's mouth moved and found that she was still alive!

Everyone immediately called the military doctor, and Dr. Fu Lianzhang personally operated on her, and finally snatched her back from the ghost gate.

However, this time she was too badly injured, comatose for 4 full days, and lay on a stretcher for more than a month, and finally fell into a lifelong third-class disability.

Originally a small-footed woman, this time she has fallen into a third-class disability, and Yang Houzhen's long march road can be imagined how difficult it is. However, these difficulties still did not stop Yang Houzhen's footsteps, and finally successfully reached northern Shaanxi.

After arriving in northern Shaanxi, Yang Houzhen divorced Luo Binghui because of emotional reasons. Later, after being introduced, he married Liu Zhengming, an old Red Army soldier. But then Liu Zhengming was framed, and the two went to the countryside of northern Shaanxi for 6 years as farmers, until 1947, Liu Zhengming was rehabilitated, and the two returned to the embrace of the organization.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yang Houzhen worked as a director of the sporting goods factory of the Ministry of Culture and died of illness in 1977 at the age of 70.
