The Red 32nd Army is a famous unit of our army on the Long March Road! According to investigation, the predecessor of this team was the Red Ninth Army. In 1935, Luo Binghui led the remnants of this legion to the Sichuan Plateau. Subsequently, this unit was reorganized into the Red 32nd Army. According to statistics, there are two regiments under the jurisdiction of the whole army, with a total of more than 1,000 people, with Luo Binghui as the commander and He Changgong as the political commissar. Soon, the Fifth Division of the Red Second Army was assigned to this army, and the Red 32nd Army was immediately expanded into two divisions.
The period of the Red Army
After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Red 32nd Army was reorganized into the 718th Regiment of the Eighth Route Army. Later, this team gradually developed into a regiment of the 55th Army. This unit has made great achievements in battle, and there have been many famous generals, and a large number of founding heroes have been produced successively. Among them, the more famous ones are: He Changgong, Yuan Renyuan, Guo Peng, Xiao Xinhuai, Wang Shangrong... Guo Peng, chief of staff of the army, and Xiao Xinhuai and Wang Shangrong, two division commanders, were both founding lieutenant generals, but why was Xing Shixiu, director of the military's political department, only a colonel?
Yukishi xiu, a native of Kham, Southwest Jiangxi, was born in 1915. Because of his poor background, he became a cowherd at an early age. To support his family, he herded cattle, planted crops, and worked as a tailor. However, no matter how desperate he tried and how frugal he was, he still couldn't eat enough and couldn't afford to read. So, he hated this dark old world. After the Red Army came to Gannan Province, at the age of 15, he resolutely joined this heroic brigade that fought for the poor people.
During the War of Resistance
Because of his bravery in battle, he was quickly promoted to a platoon leader. In 1932, he was honorably admitted to the Party. This year, he was only 17 years old. The superior chiefs loved him very much, and even more admired his vigor and vigor. Therefore, in 1934, he was ordered to come to the University of the Red Army for training. After graduation, he came to the General Political Department of the Red Army as an inspector. In the same year, he was promoted to political commissar of the Eighth Regiment of the Third Division of the Red Ninth Army. According to the investigation, the founding lieutenant general Yang Meisheng once served as the head of the regiment.
In October 1934, the Red Ninth Army participated in the famous Long March of the Central Red Army. In the same year, under the command of the regimental commander Luo Binghui, Xing Shixiu led his troops to participate in the Battle of xiangjiang. In this battle, he led his troops to fight to the death, desperately covering the main force to cross the Xiang River. According to statistics, the Eighth Regiment annihilated no less than five hundred enemy troops. At the same time, the force also paid a heavy price for the loss of more than a thousand people. The Red Ninth Army was forced to reduce the entire corps to three regiments due to its losses.
Northeast Battlefield
After the end of the Xiangjiang Campaign, the Red Ninth Army was mainly responsible for the rear guard work, sometimes disguised as the main force of the Central Red Army, or interspersed or feinted or confused the enemy. In order to contain the enemy army, Luo Binghui once led three regiments of the Red Ninth Army to stay on the north bank of the Wujiang River to fight independently, and acted alone for more than 3,000 miles, which lasted for more than fifty days. As the beloved generals of the regimental commanders such as Luo Binghui and He Changgong, the commander of the Eighth Regiment, Cui Jianxun, and the political commissar Xing Shixiu never complained and actively completed the task of covering the main force.
In April 1935, in the town of Mukong in present-day Jinsha County, Guizhou Province, Xing Shixiu led his troops to participate in the Battle of Laomukong. In this battle, he led two regiments of the united brotherly forces, and after a day of hard fighting, finally defeated three regiments of the Qian army. According to statistics, our army annihilated more than 2,000 enemy personnel and captured thousands of long and short guns and dozens of light machine guns. This battle brought out the prestige of the Red Ninth Army, which turned the crisis into safety, and at the same time effectively cooperated with the actions of the main force of the Red Army.

It can be said that Xing Shixiu was very brave during the Red Army period, and he was really a rare general. Therefore, after the Red Ninth Army was reorganized into the Red 32nd Army, he continued to serve as the political commissar of the Eighth Regiment. Later, our army assigned the Fifth Division of the Red Second Army to the Red 32nd Army. Subsequently, the old units of the Red 32nd Army were reorganized into the Red 94th Division, and the Fifth Division of the Red Second Army was reorganized into the Red 96th Division. According to the investigation, the commanders and political commissars of the two divisions were: Xiao Xinhuai and Xing Shixiu, Wang Shangrong and Tan Youlin.
Shortly after his promotion to the position of political commissar of the division, Xing Shixiu was promoted to director of the political department of the Red 32nd Army. At this time, the commander of this army was Luo Binghui, the chief of staff was Guo Peng, the minister of supply was Zhao Rong, and He Changgong, Yuan Renyuan, and Li Ganhui all served as political commissars of this army. According to statistics, there are more than 2,000 people in the whole army, but less than 3,000 people, which is equivalent to a main division of the brother troops. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Red 32nd Army was reorganized into the 718th Regiment of the Eighth Route Army, with Wen Niansheng as its commander.
Luo Binghui
As for Xing Shixiu, he first came to the Anti-Japanese Red Army University to study, and then became the director of the inspection team of the Political Training Office of the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army. At the beginning of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he was mainly responsible for the formation of local anti-Japanese armed forces in Wuzhai, Shanxi. At the beginning of 1939, he followed the main force to the Jizhong region and was reappointed as the political commissar of the independent fourth detachment of the Jizhong Military Region. In March of the same year, our army formed the independent First Brigade with the 715th Regiment of the Eighth Route Army as the main body, and he was reappointed as the deputy political commissar of this new unit.
Fortunately, Shi Xiu dared to fight and dared to fight, and soon became famous throughout the anti-Japanese base area in Central Hebei. In April 1939, he and Gao Shiyi, Zhu Huizhao, Wang Shangrong and other commanders led the Independent First Brigade to participate in the famous Battle of Qihui. In this battle, He Long commanded two main brigades and regiments to surround nearly a thousand Japanese puppet troops. After several days of fierce fighting, our army won a complete victory, annihilating no less than seven hundred enemy troops. As for Yukishi xiu, he led his troops to attack the Japanese army, annihilating more than a hundred enemy people, but unfortunately he was seriously wounded.
He Changgong
In 1940, He Long led the main force of the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army to leave Jizhong and immediately returned to the northwestern Jin dynasty. Since then, Xing Shixiu has successively served as the political commissar of the brigade and the chief of staff of the brigade. In 1943, he was ordered to return to Yan'an and then entered the first department of the Central Party School. Overall, he performed well in the early days of the War of Resistance. However, the strength of the Eighth Route Army in northwestern Jin was limited, so he was not able to stand alone. In addition, he suffered multiple injuries that affected his development.
After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Xing Shixiu came to the Jireliao area and was reappointed as the deputy brigade commander of the Independent Brigade of the Reliao Military Region. In May 1946, this unit, under the leadership of him, brigade commander Zhang Defa and political commissar Xie Bozhong, participated in the Battle of Gushan. In this battle, our army surrounded a regiment of the 13th Army of the Kuomintang Army. After 6 days and 7 nights of bloody fighting, our army finally defeated this enemy army and annihilated more than 1,000 enemy troops. However, our army also paid a terrible price of no less than six hundred people.
Yang Meisheng
Objectively speaking, this battle has won the name of my independent brigade! However, our army has also exposed some weaknesses and defects. It is mainly reflected in the fact that brigade commander Zhang Defa and deputy brigade commander Xing Shixiu are both fierce generals, but they lack wisdom and strategy, and blindly fight and rush. In addition, there are some problems in the division of labor and cooperation among the various departments participating in the war of our army, and there is not enough tacit understanding between them. Therefore, our army suffered heavy losses, and it was not able to completely annihilate this enemy force. As for Yukishisuke, he was once again seriously injured.
There is a rumor that the elder monk of the Yukishi has been injured dozens of times, including twelve times. For this reason, he left the field troops in disgrace and went to the rear hospital to recuperate. Later, the organization took care of him and specially arranged for him to come to the Railway Corps of the Fourth Field Army as the chief of staff. This position is equivalent to the division chief of staff or deputy division commander of the main force. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he was reappointed as the deputy director of the administrative department of the Training Management Department of the Central Military Commission.
Xiao Xinhuai
Since then, he has successively served as the director of the Material Support Department of the First Military Medical University, the director of the Queue Office of the Fourth Military Medical University, and the deputy director and minister of the Fourth Military Medical University. In 1952, our army was ranked as a cadre, and he was designated as a cadre at the level of a full division. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of colonel. At the same time, he was awarded the Order of August 1 of the First Class, the Order of Independence and Freedom of the Second Class, and the Liberation Medal of the Second Class. It was not until 1978 that he was promoted to a full-fledged military cadre.
In terms of his seniority, prestige, and military achievements, the rank of colonel is indeed a little low, and the rank of major general is a little high. After all, he was the director of the political department of the 32nd Army during the Red Army period, the deputy political commissar of the main brigade during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the deputy brigade commander during the Liberation War, and the cadre at the level of a full division in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Xing Shixiu's starting point is very high, but his stamina is insufficient, mainly for the following reasons: First, he is not highly educated and brave in combat, but his wisdom and strategy are insufficient, and he does not meet the requirements of the operation mode of the large corps and the development requirements of the field warfare and regularization of the troops. Secondly, he had shed too much blood for the new China, his health had been bad, he had not been able to stand alone, and he had long served as a deputy or engaged in logistical work. In addition, during the Red Army period, he led his troops to the south, and had some differences with the main forces of the Red Army.
However, Yukishi xiu has always been more content, and he has never struggled with the issue of his rank. I have checked many of his materials, whether it is the main history or the wild history, and there are almost no negative evaluations. It can be seen from this that an old Red Army and an old eighth road are high wind and bright festivals! After coming to the Fourth Military Medical University, he has been working diligently, never arrived late and left early, and has never taken advantage of the public. In 1991, he unfortunately died in the ancient capital of Xi'an, a thousand years old, at the age of 76!
