Tempted by the 15th Regiment, the Japanese army entered Baodi on February 21, entered Zhao Gezhuang on the night of the 22nd, entered Xinji in the early morning of the 23rd, and drove to the mouth of the Xianghe County Canal on the 24th.

On the night of the 24th, our army dispatched a small force to reconnoiter near the Japanese puppet army station and made tentative shots at the enemy. The Japanese puppet army did not dare to move, but blindly returned fire on the surrounding areas with firepower. On the 25th, heavy fog fell from the sky, and I couldn't see my five fingers. The Japanese commander, Fumio Horiuchi, saw an opportunity to take advantage of it, so he led his troops to the nest. The Japanese army and secret agents were in front, and the puppet army was in the rear, and they came straight to Li Sandian. Our special service company and guard company were ambushed here. When the Japanese puppet army reached the south of the village, it was discovered by the sentry of our army, and the sentry immediately fired a gun to the police. After hearing the sound of gunfire, 2 companies of our army rushed out of the village and launched a battle formation to pounce on the Japanese army, and the Japanese puppet army also launched a battle formation in the field, and the battle immediately broke out.

Under the onslaught of our army, the casualties of the Japanese army were increasing, and the follow-up troops of the Japanese army saw that the situation was not good, and they seized the favorable terrain nearby in two ways and planned to confront our army, but the big group of traitors "watched from the wall" and lay down on the ground, neither advancing nor retreating, but just not moving in place. Because the puppet army did not dare to move in a disorderly manner, our army was able to concentrate all its forces to deal with more than 100 Japanese troops, and under the overwhelming superiority of our army's attack, the Japanese army's positions were successively broken through by our army, and they were forced to gradually move closer to the direction of the central Hori Ubuno headquarters. In order to concentrate on destroying the Japanese army, our army then launched a political offensive against the puppet army that stood still, and let it escape back to Baodi. Sure enough, the puppet army retreated without a fight and retreated to Baodi County.

Our army then suspended the attack and carefully considered the next battle plan, because there was a large open area in front of the Japanese position, and it was not easy for our army to approach, so our army decided to attract Japanese fire with a frontal feint attack, and the two wings of troops quickly detoured to the enemy's flank to break through the enemy's defense.

In this 14-hour fierce battle, only 5 of the 130-odd Japanese "culling team" escaped, and our army captured one Japanese 92nd infantry gun, one grenade launcher, 2 light machine guns, 67 long and short guns, 6 telescopes, a radio station, and more than 6,000 rounds of various ammunition. But our army also had 146 commanders and fighters killed. After this battle, the Japanese army no longer dared to take major military action in our base area on the outskirts of Tianjin.
