Unforgettable organ in the industrial and commercial church

From the racecourse road can be seen with the bell tower this building, this main building, it is not how good-looking... No, it has style, it is European Renaissance mixed with some Romanesque, the building is symmetrical on both sides of the house, Fangshan has left wing, right wing. Let's start with the right side, that is to say, the west side, and look at the ten or so steps. After the steps go up, in fact, this is the church, on the right side of the main building. After going in, take a look, well, the height is a layer... Because when the building was first designed, it was very purposeful, and the main function was classrooms and teaching buildings. Well, the other function, because it is a church-run school, so it has to have a church on the right.

The first floor of the church, which is on one side of the third floor (next to the main building), but it is one floor inside, and the other teaching buildings are three floors. It as a church is a floor, why? Because the church must be raised high, adding to the sense of mystery. Take another look, okay! The decoration inside this church, the floor with tiles, is not a concept from now (tiles), it does not brush glaze, it is shipped from abroad, it has no luster. Now this tile is a little slippery, it is not that concept, it is an old-fashioned pattern of flowers, very complicated.

The decoration here is decorated with marble, decorated with white and light green, and the railings and the main altar are decorated with white and green marble. Why use white and green? Because the logo color of the school of commerce and commerce is white and green.

The chapel is particularly worth mentioning, not these individual things. There are two floors at the back, which are used for choirs. There is an organ upstairs. As far as I know, there are only two organs in the church in Tianjin, one is in the business school and the other is in the Zizhulin Church. The most damning thing is that these two organs are now gone, why? 1966 was smashed, oops!

This organ is definitely not the same as the pedal organ we saw in school, it is equipment! The pedal organ is a reed-style pronunciation, the organ, is the air vibrating in the pipe inside the pronunciation, do you think the effect can be the same? The pipe is made of copper, diameter: five inches, four inches, three inches, two inches; length: 6 meters, 5 meters, 4 meters, 3 meters, 2 meters... What does it mean to have different lengths and thicknesses? The lower the tone – the thicker and longer the tube; the higher the pitch – the shorter and thinner the tube. Corresponding to each key on the keyboard instrument, that is, the black key, the white key, it is a pipe, but also can be manipulated to change the timbre, can make the sound of the horizontal flute, (emit) the sound of the violin, trumpet. Playing at the same time, this is a big band, sonic shock house. Speaking of hanging points, the soil on the roof is falling down. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! In Europe, it is known as the "King of Music" and "the King of musical instruments" - The King of the Music.

As soon as I looked at [the organ] and I was (at the time) a teenager, I said (I wanted to learn) to play and accompany the choir. It was an Austrian priest who played the pipe organ (Tao Tian Jing/Sutra) and I said to him, "Do I learn from you?" He said, "You don't have any foundation, how can I teach you?" Won't it exhaust me? "He doesn't teach. As soon as I heard this, it was good! Don't teach, OK. I stood next to him and gave him a sheet music book, of course he was happy, he could not play the piano with both hands, looking at the score, when it was time to turn the sheet, he could not free his hands, I turned it over for him. This alone will not work, this will not. I, while watching from the sidelines, I watched how he played, and now I said "steal art".

That (pipe) piano, don't let me touch it. The wind is not the same as ordinary, where is the pedal so strong to give the wind? This is the motor blowing, DC motor. Purple bamboo forest that is manual, large sheepskin bellows. The bellows, like a cabinet, a large bellows that is larger than a cabinet, well, I look at it, what should I do? You have to practice, which line of musical instruments you don't practice, you can't just look at it, where can you just look?

Back again, there is a chapel in the small villa ("Little Yellow House"), this chapel is not large, it is like a large living room (about) 30 square meters such a house. It was a chapel, and there was a pedal organ in it, and as soon as I looked at it, I practiced there.

At that time, school was early, class was over at 3:40, and in the afternoon, everyone went to the back to play football, and I ran to (Xiaohuanglou) to practice. After practicing for a while, I showed him [the Tao Tianjing], and I said, "Do you think it's okay?" He said, "Okay, quick! I'll teach you! "Oops! Give me pleasure, then, I will. He (Tao Tianjing) began to slowly let me go up, and the excitement in my heart was ah! Simply! This is not within the content of school, this is all their own good this.

The "Final Fate" of the Synod

The church is used by both missionaries and religious students in the school for religious activities, as well as for those in the vicinity. There are three alleys behind the industry and commerce called "Three Delhi", which is the house of the Church Chongde Church, and there are too many religious people in those three alleys, almost 80% or more. [The faithful] all came in and went to religious events.

Then in 52 years, it changed! (Industry and Commerce) has been changed to a normal university, and it is not appropriate for you to put a church there, it is inconvenient, what to do? It was slowly swinging around, and it was 1955. In 1955, there happened to be a social phenomenon, right? The Jews, the Soviet Russians all returned home and left. The Jews left, he talked to the government, saying that I have a church, not called a church, called a synagogue, that is, now there is no white synagogue in the little white building! [The Jews] said I didn't want it, I sold it.

The government coordinated, saying so, the business college is now called the Teachers' College, and it is not appropriate to put a church in it, so let the Tianjin diocese and the church buy this synagogue and change it to a (God) church, which is not the end of it, this is the spring of 55 years. Okay, talk on both sides, fit, sold. The Catholic Church bought it, and after buying it, it took the organs, the marble altars, and the wooden kneeling stools (that is, the chairs) in the industry and commerce to a big move, and they all moved here (the little white building).
