Recently, many ministries and commissions have vigorously promoted the pilot application of the new energy vehicle power exchange model, and battery factories and vehicle manufacturers are also accelerating cooperation to promote the commercialization of the power exchange business. The agency expects that by 2025, the number of new domestic power stations will reach more than 9,000, and the demand for new domestic power exchange equipment will reach 12 billion yuan.

Strengthen regional power exchange cooperation

The Ningde era has recently made frequent moves in the field of power exchange.

On December 24, 2021, NINGDE Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and the People's Government of Guizhou Province signed an agreement on cooperation in the construction of a power exchange network in Guiyang City. According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in depth in the construction of new energy vehicle power exchange network facilities, promote the improvement of new energy vehicle power exchange capacity, and promote the high-quality development of the new energy industry, and jointly build a double highland of Guizhou's new energy market and industry.

On August 20, 2021, CATL established a times electrical service subsidiary in Xiamen, Fujian Province, as the bearer of the power exchange business. On December 20, 2021, Times Electric Service established a regional power exchange business company in Jilin Province.

CICC Research Report pointed out that CATL reached an overall cooperation with the regions at the group level, and the Times Service was responsible for the specific landing of the power exchange business, and established a corresponding regional company, which is expected to build a three-dimensional business network of "Ningde Times - Times Service - Regional Branch".

CICC expects that after Jilin and Guizhou provinces, the power exchange business of the Ningde era will accelerate regional expansion, and is expected to take the lead in Fujian, Jiangsu, Sichuan and other advantageous regions, and quickly promote it nationwide.

Power exchange business landed at multiple points

Automakers and battery plants are also accelerating the application of the power exchange mode.

In September 2021, FAW Besturn and Liaoyuan City jointly promoted the power exchange mode new energy vehicle project. 2,000 units of power exchange mode Besturn NAT (the first batch of 500 units) were delivered to Liaoyuan City, and FAW Besturn opened the ecological integration process of the besturn NAT model and power exchange operation in the power exchange mode.

ACCORDING TOCC, the Pentium NAT replacement version will become the first B-end mass production model based on the standardized battery box of the Ningde era battery replacement system. Following the Pentium NAT, more power exchange supporting models based on standardized battery boxes will be launched one after another, matching the rapid promotion rhythm of the power exchange business. The replacement model will take the lead in the B-end market and gradually penetrate into the C-end.

In July 2020, the heavy truck for power exchange jointly built by CATL and Futian Zhilan New Energy was delivered in Beijing, becoming the first commercial application scenario of heavy truck replacement. On September 13, 2021, Foton Zhilan New Energy, Foton Ouhui and NIPP Times, subsidiaries of Foton Motor, held a signing ceremony for strategic cooperation agreements on battery finance and innovative business models for new energy commercial vehicles. According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate around Foton Motor's full range of new energy commercial vehicle products, the landing application of the leasing model, and future cooperation in battery banking and substations.

CICC expects that as the monthly sales of domestic heavy trucks continue to rise, the electrification process of heavy trucks in the field of commercial vehicles will be accelerated by virtue of their timeliness and economy.

In addition to the Ningde era, Automakers such as Weilai are also stepping up the layout of substations. In 2021, NIO will build 778 substations around the world, and build a total of 4582 new supercharging piles and destination charging piles.

Huaxi Securities Research Report pointed out that by 2020, the number of completed replacement power stations in China has increased to 555, and 249 new stations have been added that year. Based on the growth trend of demand for new energy vehicles, it is expected that in 2025, the number of new domestic substations will reach more than 9,000.

Policy boost

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other ministries and commissions have vigorously promoted the pilot application of the new energy vehicle power exchange model.

A few days ago, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Notice on Launching the Pilot Work on the Application of the New Energy Vehicle Power Exchange Mode", and decided to start the pilot work of the application of the new energy vehicle power exchange mode. There are 11 cities included in the scope of the pilot, including 8 cities with comprehensive application (Beijing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Sanya, Chongqing, Changchun, Hefei, Jinan), and 3 cities with heavy truck characteristics (Yibin, Tangshan, Baotou).

The "Notice" pointed out that the basic principles of the pilot work of the application of the power exchange model are market-oriented, innovation-driven, key breakthroughs, and coordinated linkage. The pilot objectives include strengthening the research and development of key technologies, accelerating the construction of power exchange infrastructure, promoting the application of power exchange mode vehicles, and forming a benign development ecology of charge and exchange complementary.

The "Notice" mentioned that charging and replacing electricity are complementary methods for electric vehicles, each with its applicable field and consumer group. The power exchange mode has certain advantages in reducing the cost of car purchase, eliminating mileage anxiety, and improving safety levels. In recent years, the development of the power exchange model has made positive progress, with nearly 200 power exchange models, a cumulative promotion of more than 150,000 vehicles, and nearly 900 power stations, but still facing technical standards, tax policies, power station construction management norms and other issues.

In order to implement the "New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan (2021-2035)", further promote the application of the new energy vehicle power exchange mode, promote the deep integration of new energy vehicles and energy, and form a replicable promotion and development experience, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with relevant departments, has carried out the pilot work of the application of the new energy vehicle power exchange mode.

Huaxi Securities said that the value of domestic substation equipment in 2021 will be 1.7 billion yuan, and the industry is still in its infancy. It is estimated that by 2025, the demand for new power exchange equipment in China will reach 12 billion yuan.
