What's new

1. The Bureau of Cultural Relics announced four important archaeological achievements in Tibet

On January 13, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage held a working meeting on the important progress of the "Archaeological China" major project in Beijing, focusing on the important archaeological discoveries and research progress of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and reported four important archaeological achievements, including the Chere Site, the Mahao Site, the Gebusailu Site, and the Dangxiong Cemetery.

The Chere site in Gar County is a paleolithic wilderness site in the early Holocene, with more than 5,000 relics mainly excavated from stone products, and the remains of human activities such as fire ponds and ash pits have been found. The Maliang Ruins in Kangma County (4410 meters above sea level) is a prehistoric settlement site dating back about 4,000 years, archaeology has found fire ponds, tombs and other relics of human life, and excavated stone tools, pottery, bone tools, mussel ornaments, talc beads, jade pipe beads and other relics. The Gbusairu site in Zada County is a site from the Late Bronze Age to the early Iron Age. Early and late tombs were found. Dangxiong Cemetery in Dangxiong County is a burial ground of the Tubo period, dating from the 7th century to the 9th century AD. Archaeology has found 52 sealed earth tombs, including two categories: stone chamber tombs and earthen pit tombs. More than 300 pieces (sets) of various utensils such as gold and silverware, beads, pottery, and Go pieces have been unearthed.

The four important achievements of this briefing further reveal the complex process of prehistoric cultural development on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and empirically prove the history of ethnic exchanges, exchanges and blending in Tibet.

Second, use digital technology to "move" the map of thousands of miles

Recently, the "Painting Tour of a Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains - Immersive Art Exhibition of the Forbidden City" exhibited in Lijia Wisdom Park in Liangjiang New District, Chongqing, used digital technology to re-present the Northern Song Dynasty painting "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains", allowing people to understand the excellent traditional culture in a more vivid way.

The bead curtain is stirred, the sound of the guqin enters the ear, and a corridor of light and shadow that is difficult to distinguish between reality and reality comes into view. Tourists seem to step into a kaleidoscope, and the colorful picture scrolls of thousands of miles of rivers and mountains are greeted.

The exhibition uses digital technology to re-present the silk color painting "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" created by Wang Ximeng of the Northern Song Dynasty. Jointly launched by the Palace Museum, Phoenix TV and Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, the exhibition is part of the "Painting Tour Series National Treasure Digital Art IP Research and Development Program".

3. The kuancheng city of Chengde, Hebei Province, found a stone stele of the Great Wall built by Qi Jiguang in the Ming Dynasty

It was learned from the cultural relics department of Kuancheng Manchu Autonomous County in Chengde, Hebei Province, that the department found a Ming Dynasty stone stele while working along the Great Wall in the territory, and the inscription recorded the construction of defense projects related to the Great Wall by the famous anti-Wu generals Tan Lun and Qi Jiguang.

The stone stele is about 60 centimeters wide and about 100 centimeters high, and because it has been buried in the soil for a long time, it is well preserved and the handwriting is clear. The inscription reads to the effect that in the fourth month of the lunar calendar in 1569, Ten civil and military officials, including Tan Lun, Liu Yingjie, Fang Nan, Zhou Yijing, Yang Jin, and Qi Jiguang, supervised the construction of the Great Wall-related defense projects, and recorded the positions and names of local officials responsible for dispatching, managing repairs, and construction. The content of the inscription is highly consistent with the historical materials. The discovery of the stone stele provides strong physical evidence for the study of the construction process of the Great Wall related to jizhen in the Ming Dynasty, and has important historical and cultural research value.

However, from its establishment until the 1950s, there were several ups and downs and frequent tribulations. During this period, fire, theft, soldiers, and beetles caused a large amount of damage to the collection, nearly 60 of the 664 books have disappeared, and most of the survivors have been gathered and scattered in public collection. It is understood that this year, the National Library (National Center for the Protection of Ancient Books) will also hold a "Tianlu Linlang" restoration exhibition and publish relevant restoration results.

Fifth, national experts "consult" Leshan Giant Buddha

Recently, the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Relics organized and a number of well-known experts in the country "consulted" for the Leshan Giant Buddha Grottoes and prescribed a "water treatment prescription".

Leshan Giant Buddha is the world's largest existing stone carved seated Buddha, due to the humid climate, rain, dependent rock nature and other factors, for a long time Leshan Giant Buddha water damage, biological diseases, weathering diseases, repair layer cracking and peeling and other problems are prominent, these diseases reflected in the eyes of tourists is "black face", "tears", "long grass", "cracking" and so on. It is understood that since 1914, the Leshan Giant Buddha has carried out 7 large-scale surface restorations, but none of them have systematically solved the problem from the root.
