Andy Warhol's portrait of Marilyn Monroe is one of the most recognizable symbols of modern art and a symbol of the Pop Art Movement in the United States. It was auctioned at Christie's by Christie's at the Thomas and Doris Ammann Foundation in Zurich. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Foundation to help establish a comprehensive support system to help children in vulnerable communities around the world, with a focus on medical and educational programs. Before the shooting, Christie's said the work was "bound to make history.". One of the most iconic works of the 20th century, estimated at about US$200 million (about 1.2 billion yuan), is the most typical example of Andy Warhol's pop art of the 1960s.
