* In the Song-Mongol War, there were three major theaters of war, Jingxiang, Jianghuai and Sichuan, among which the Sichuan theater was the earliest to open up, the latest to end, and the most tortuous process. The most important reason why the powerful Mongol iron cavalry could not completely occupy Sichuan for a long time was that the Song army creatively built a mountain city defense system along the Shu Road. In order to disintegrate the defense system of the Song army's mountain cities, the Mongolian army not only used the captured Song army's mountain cities, but also established a number of its own mountain cities along the Shu Road for the first time. The attack and defense system of the mountain city built by the Song and Mongolian sides along the Shu Road is not only a great creation in the war between the nomads and the agricultural people in the cold weapon era, but also an important historical and cultural site on the ancient Shu Road, which has unique value.
