Recently, the "Shen Yinmo Cup" National Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Competition Excellent Works Exhibition was launched at the Zhu Qizhan Art Museum in Shanghai. This exhibition is not only a "big competition" of calligraphers across the country, a concentrated display of the latest achievements of Chinese calligraphy culture, but also an important opportunity for Hongkou District to launch the brand of "three places of culture" and further promote the exploration and research of Mr. Shen Yinmo's achievements.
Ding Shenyang, vice chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Federation of Literature and Literature and chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Book Association, introduced that under the initiative of Mr. Shen Yinmo, in 1961, the first provincial-level public calligraphy organization in New China, the Shanghai Chinese Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Research Association, was established, and Mr. Shen Yinmo served as the president, cultivating a large number of outstanding calligraphy talents. In April last year, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Calligraphers Association, the Shanghai Calligraphers Association, the Shanghai Foreign Cultural Exchange Association and the Propaganda Department of the Hongkou District Committee of the Communist Party of China jointly held the "Shen Yinmo Cup" National Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Competition to commemorate the spirit of the master and further promote the traditional Chinese calligraphy culture. This competition activity has received a positive response from the majority of calligraphers and calligraphy enthusiasts across the country. After the preliminary evaluation and re-evaluation of the competition jury composed of national calligraphy and seal engraving experts, relevant experts from the shanghai calligraphy circle, and the preliminary evaluation and re-evaluation of the competition supervision committee, and the video test of each selected book, 99 exhibited works were finally selected from more than 3200 works, and 20 award-winning works were selected. Among them, there are 3 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 12 third prizes.
Zhou Zhigao, honorary chairman of the Shanghai Book Association and president of the Shanghai China Book Court, said that from the works received in the competition, most of them are cursive and calligraphy, but there are also a large number of seal engraving works, and there are many young books and many female calligraphers. The works are innovative in inheritance and developed in interpretation, which is in line with the concept of "Shen Yinmo Cup" of Haipai calligraphy creation.
"Carrying forward and inheriting the traditional Chinese calligraphy culture requires long-term and unremitting efforts, and we will take this competition as an opportunity to continue to carry forward the calligraphy culture of Shen Yinmo and launch the Hongkou 'Cultural Three Places' brand." Lu Jian, chairman of the Hongkou District Federation of Literary and Art Circles, said: Hongkou District is the birthplace of Haipai culture, the source of advanced culture, and the gathering place of cultural celebrities. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Mr. Shen Yinmo lived in Hongkou District for a long time, and Hongkou District has been focusing on the excavation, publicity and research of Mr. Shen Yinmo's achievements. In 2013, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Mr. Shen Yinmo's birth, Shanghai held the first "Shen Yinmo Cup" National Teachers' Calligraphy Competition, Shen Yinmo Calligraphy Forum and Shen Yinmo Calligraphy Exhibition. Between 2018 and 2020, the "Documentary Exhibition of the 135th Anniversary of the Birth of Mr. Shen Yinmo" was held and the "Documents of Shen Yinmo" was published. In Hainan Middle School, the "Shen Yinmo Calligraphy Cultural Education Base" was set up to guide the majority of young students to love the art of calligraphy.
It is reported that the exhibition will be extended until January 16. Next, Hongkou District will continue to do a good job in the selection and awarding of the Shen Yinmo Calligraphy Art Award, the Shen Yinmo Calligraphy International Forum, the "Shen Yinmo Cup" National Calligraphy Seal Engraving Competition, and the construction of the Shen Yinmo Calligraphy Education Base.
