AION LX Plus: Fish and bear paws, you can't have both

Since Li Bin threw out the ET7 with a range of up to 1,000 kilometers at NIO DAY last January, the term "ultra-long endurance" is like the cottage mobile phone brand that chattered in TV shopping that year, and from time to time it comes out to stir everyone's nerves. The front has et7 in front of the slogan of more than 1,000 kilometers, and the AION LX Plus in the rear. Et7 mass production delivery time is still uncertain, and latecomers are on top, AION LX Plus took the lead in bringing "ultra-long endurance" landing in 2022.

On January 5, AION LX Plus was officially launched, and the new car launched a total of 80 Zhizun Edition, 80D Flagship Edition, 80D Max Edition and Qianli Edition, with a price range of large ranges, from 286,600 to 459,600, a difference of 170,000. In the pre-launch publicity of the new car, there are several highlights worth paying attention to, one is the CLTC mileage of 1008 kilometers, the second is the intelligent driver assistance hardware composed of 3 lidar + multiple high-precision sensors, and the third is the acceleration time of 2.9s per 100 kilometers. However, after the new car was launched, when carefully comparing the configurations of different versions, it seemed impossible to "gather" these three things on one model.

AION LX Plus: Fish and bear paws, you can't have both

First of all, are you willing to spend nearly 460,000 yuan on a "smart car" that only cruises at a fixed speed for more than 1,000 kilometers of endurance? Yes, the 1,000-mile version, priced at 459,600 yuan and with a range of 1,008 kilometers under CLTC conditions, is far less "moving" in terms of configuration than its price. According to the drive form, the lowest priced 80 Zhizun Edition and the highest priced Qianli Edition use the front-drive form, while the two 80D flagship editions and 80D Max editions at the middle price point use the four-wheel drive format. The front-drive model uses an electric motor with a maximum power of 180kW and a maximum torque of 350N·m, in order to achieve a longer endurance, many pure electric vehicles will choose a single motor to drive the vehicle, and it is understandable to use this method on the Thousand Mile Edition.

However, if you compare the configuration of the 459,600 yuan Qianli version and the 286,600 yuan 80 Zhizun version together, you will find that the difference of 170,000 yuan is almost not reflected in the higher configuration, and even the configuration of the Qianli version is even lower than that of the 80 Zhizun version in some parts.

For example, in terms of intelligent driving hardware, the Thousand Mile Edition is not only not equipped with lidar, but even common auxiliary driving equipment such as high-precision millimeter-wave radar and intelligent driving HD cameras, as well as the lowest intelligent driving assistance system processor. The lack of hardware systems naturally led to shortcomings in the software, in addition to the fixed speed cruise and 360 ° panoramic visual parking assistance system, the Thousand Mile version of the model is almost absent from the entire driver assistance system, the most common ACC adaptive cruise system is also missing the model.

Although the breakthrough in mileage is surprising, for a model that costs nearly 460,000, the configuration at the assisted driving level is so low, it will still make consumers a little entangled in the choice.

In terms of comfort and safety configuration, AION LX Plus gives a more comprehensive, such as 12.3-inch LCD instrument, 15.6-inch central control screen, remote start, wireless charging, panoramic canopy, front seat ventilation / heating, heat pump air conditioning, etc., basically commonly used functions are given to users as standard, but for the highest price of the Thousand Mile edition model, such a standard will make the user psychology of more than 170,000 more unbalanced.

In the pre-listing publicity of AION LX Plus, three lidar and 2.9s of 100 km acceleration are also the highlights of the new car, and among the four models listed this time, only the 80D Max version priced at 409,600 yuan is equipped with lidar, and consumers who rush to the 2.9s acceleration time may also be disappointed, because after the listing, the original advertised 2.9s "disappeared", replacing it with a 100 km acceleration time of 3.9 s.

AION LX Plus: Fish and bear paws, you can't have both

As the first 1,000 km pure electric endurance model to be mass-produced, AION LX Plus has no doubt in the research and development strength of battery technology, and the three lidar and multiple driving assistance systems are enough to show that its foundation in intelligent driving is deep enough. However, multiple highlights are scattered in a variety of models, quite a "fish and bear paws, can not have both" taste, want to long endurance, you have to sacrifice the complete driver assistance system, want lidar, you need to give up more than 1000 kilometers of cruising range. Cost control is important, but I still hope that these industry-leading technical strengths will not only become a "gimmick" that stays on the poster.
