On January 11, at the recent CES exhibition, AMD not only launched the new Ryzen 6000 series processors, but also publicly displayed the Ryzen™ 7000 series processors based on the 5NM Zen4. AMD CEO Su Zifeng also confirmed that Zen4 uses 5NM optimized for high-performance computing, which is different from other 5NMs.
So far, TSMC has derived multiple versions of 5NM, such as N5, N5P, N4, and N4X announced last December, with the X suffix developed for high-performance computing, compared to N5 and N4P have different degrees of performance improvement. AMD did not clearly indicate which version of the process the Ryzen 7000 series uses, and Xiao Lei guessed that it should be based on N5P customization, after all, the N4X has just been released not long ago.
Compared with the Ryzen 6000 series, the Zen4 architecture of the Ryzen 7000 not only has a better energy efficiency ratio and performance release, the special 5NM process will also bring a lot of upgrades, which is better than the Intel 10NM next door. Thanks to the Zen4 architecture, the processor frequency of the Ryzen 7000 series should be a big surprise.
Previously, AMD also revealed that the Ryzen 7000 series processor can achieve full-core 5GHz operation in Microsoft's "Halo" game, if it is 8 core firepower, the performance can be imagined. However, the cost of high performance is definitely high heat generation, and it is recommended to dissipate heat at multiple heap points.
It is worth mentioning that the packaging form of the Ryzen™ 7000 series will also be changed from pin type to contact type. Contact packages are relatively more advanced, with faster transmission speeds than pin-type packages. On the other hand, if the contact CPU is damaged, it can be directly replaced by a base, and if it is a pin-type damage, the CPU is estimated to be replaced together.

Now, the main package method that Intel deals with is the contact, and AMD has improved the package, which is also a close friend in terms of compatibility and ease of use. In addition, the Ryzen™ 7000 series will also be upgraded to an AM5 slot and support advanced technologies such as DDR5.
Su Zifeng said that the AM5 interface can be used for many years, and the Ryzen™ processors and motherboards that use the AM5 interface can still be compatible with the current heatsink. That is to say, in the future, if users want to upgrade the configuration, they do not need to spend extra money to replace accessories such as motherboards, and this highly compatible solution should be able to attract many PC users to buy AMD processors.
The Ryzen 7000 series will be for consumers at the end of this year, and it is certain that the Ryken 6000 series released by AMD not long ago can only be regarded as a transitional product with minor repairs, and the replacement upgrade will have to wait for the 7000 series. Of course, Xiao Lei believes that the current CPU performance is quite enough, 7000 more is still for fever-level PC players, ordinary users do not have to pursue the latest products in order to pull full performance.
