In such an environment, Zeng Guohua simply left the Lu family at the age of 14 and joined the army with several friends, beginning a 7-year"soldier career". Soon after becoming a soldier, Zeng Guohua's unit was combined with Zhang Fakui's 4th National Revolutionary Army and began the Northern Expedition.
Two years later, the 4th Army reached Shandong, and Zhang Fakui rebelled against Chiang Kai-shek and withdrew the main force to Guangdong. At that time, Zeng Guohua's brigade did not have time to withdraw, was surrounded by Chiang Kai-shek's army, and finally reorganized into the independent 4th Brigade. In 1929, the independent 4th Brigade organized a military riot in the Nanjing area, and it was detected that the officers were killed and expelled, while Zeng Guohua and other soldiers were imprisoned.
Six months later, the Great War of Jiang, Feng, and Yan Zhongyuan broke out, and Zeng Guohua and other soldiers were released and incorporated into the 52nd Division of the Kuomintang Army and served as cannon fodder. After the End of the Central Plains War, the 52nd Division went to the Lunan Mountains to fight a guerrilla war.
In the past 5 years, Zeng Guohua has been doing nothing in the ranks of the Nationalist Army, and has long been tired of such a life, coupled with seeing many soldiers running, anti-, Zeng Guohua feels that the White Army can no longer stay, so he came up with the idea of joining the Red Army.
In August 1931, the 52nd Division was finally annihilated by the Red Army in Donggu, Jiangxi, and Zeng Guohua resolutely became a prisoner, and joined the Red Army as he wished, and was assigned to the 31st Regiment of the 11th Division of the Red 4th Army as a soldier and began his revolutionary career. Three months later, the Red 11th Division was ordered to participate in the battle in Shicheng County, Ruijin, and attacked the old lair of the Kuomintang division commander Lai Shihuang: Hongshizhai. This was Zeng Guohua's first participation in the war after joining the Red Army, in which he charged forward, fought bravely, and was praised by the company commander, and was later promoted to squad leader in 1932.
Zeng Guohua had never been wounded in the first 7 years before joining the army, but he had only been in the Red Army for 3 years, but he had suffered two injuries: First, after the 4th anti-"encirclement and suppression" victory, the 11th Division was ordered to attack Le'an County. Second, in the 5th anti-encirclement and suppression operation, Zeng Guohua was shot in the lower leg in the fierce battle, but fortunately he did not hurt the bone and healed quickly. A year later, Zeng Guohua was promoted to commander of 6 6 Company, 2 Battalion, 5 Regiment, 2 Division, 2 Divisions, 1 Red Army for his bravery in battle.
On February 17, 1936, the Red Army decided to form the "Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Vanguard Army", which crossed the Yellow River in three ways and went to the Hebei and Cha fronts to participate in the War of Resistance Against Japan. Among them, Zeng Guohua's Red 5 Regiment was the Commando Team for crossing the Yellow River in the east, which was the vanguard regiment of the Eastern Crusade. Soon, the Red 5Thirk Arrived on the west bank of the Yellow River.
At this time, Chiang Kai-shek had set up layers of heavy troops at the Yellow River crossing to prevent the Red Army from moving north. In order to break through the Yellow River crossing in one fell swoop, Zhang Zhenshan, commander of the 5th Regiment, selected 24 elite personnel from the whole regiment and formed a river crossing commando team, led by Zeng Guohua. Among these 24 warriors, the oldest is 20 years old, and the youngest is only 15 years old, but they are "old soldiers" tempered in the Long March. 24 men formed 4 assault groups, each carrying a Czech-style horse rifle and 4 grenades.
On the night of the 20th, the commandos disguised themselves as peasants in northern Shaanxi, with a lamb's belly on their heads, and under the leadership of captain Zeng Guohua, they began to smuggle their former enemies from the ditch. Before crossing the river, Zeng Guohua only said one sentence: "Remember, we were selected by the Red 5 Regiment, everyone was watching us, and my agent was the 3rd Company Long Long Jinshu!" After speaking, Zeng Guohua gave an order, and the two small boats that the commando team took one after another began to gallop towards the opposite shore.
In the night, the river surface was pitch black, and five fingers could not be seen, Zeng Guohua stared at the opposite bank deadly, and just when the boat was about to dock, suddenly an electric light swept by and shot into the first small boat.
"It's the communists," the enemy soldiers screamed, and then the bullets came like a rainstorm. The signalman next to Zeng Guohua was unfortunately shot and died on the spot, and the sailor who rowed the boat was also injured in the arm. At this extremely urgent moment, Zeng Guohua seemed very calm and calm, and he spat out a few words in his mouth: "Don't be afraid, hurry up!" ”
After a while, the boat leaned on the shore, and Zeng Guohua stood up and waved a shell gun, followed by a roar: "Rush! The commandos jumped off the ship with him, braved the rain of bullets to rush up the beachhead, killed the enemy group, and finally took the central bunker in one fell swoop. Then, the commandos divided into 2 more roads and took two bunkers in the north and south. The defenders saw that they had lost the beachhead, knew that the matter was important, and immediately launched a fierce counterattack. After a fierce battle, the commandos repelled the strong enemy and tore open the opening of the Yellow River crossing.
After the war, the commando commander Zeng Guohua, the team leader Long Jinshu, the team members Zhou Haibin, Ma Hui and others were praised as "combat heroes who broke through the Yellow River natural danger defense line", Zeng Guohua was awarded the Warrior Award, and at the same time, he was promoted from company commander to deputy commander of the Red 5 Regiment, and was promoted to 3rd level in a row.
