Feel the enthusiasm of exhibitors at CES

Las Vegas, United States, January 7 (Reporter Tan Jingjing, Huang Heng, Gao Shan) The 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas was held from 5 to 7. CES was held in a virtual online form last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this year it resumed the physical exhibition format. Due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, the number of exhibitors has decreased significantly this year, but there are still many companies from different countries who have overcome the difficulties caused by the epidemic to come to the exhibition site.

"Many innovations can only be experienced first-hand if they come to the scene, especially the simulation experience. The epidemic cannot stop the pace of innovation, nor can it stop us from participating in the exhibition. Martin Hroupec, head of hardware engineering at Czech tech company Vrgineers, told Xinhua.

Vrgineers is a start-up that primarily develops simulator solutions for pilot and vehicle driver training. At the show, many exhibitors lined up to experience its equipment — wearing virtual reality glasses, sitting in an airplane-like cockpit space, following on-screen prompts to pull the "joystick" and immersing themselves in virtual high-altitude piloting.

Hropeck and 3 companions came to Las Vegas from Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, via a third-country transfer, a total of more than 20 hours, and immediately after arriving, they came to the venue to set up the exhibition. The day after the exhibition ends, we will leave for China again. During your stay, you will need to be tested for COVID-19 several times.

Recently, the epidemic in the United States has rebounded seriously, and a number of epidemic indicators have repeatedly broken records, and the number of new confirmed cases of new crown on the 3rd even exceeded 1 million. During the CES exhibition, the epidemic prevention and control faced severe challenges, and there were also many risks in the international journey of overseas exhibitors. Purdue Technology, a start-up from Shenzhen, China, came to the exhibition with the "food delivery robot team" this time, which has ups and downs and gains.

Hong Hao, senior sales manager of Purdue Technology, told Xinhua news agency that a team of 10 people set off from Shenzhen and came to Las Vegas after a transfer. After arriving in the United States, one member developed physical well and is currently self-isolating outside of Las Vegas.

"Because of the impact of the epidemic, Purdue Technology has only been able to do business remotely online in China in the past two years, although the business (sales) has doubled for half a year, but we feel that we can do better in such a vast international market." CES is a good stage for Chinese innovative enterprises to show their strength and sail to the sea, and on the first day of the exhibition, we have obtained a large number of interested customers, and everything we have paid is worth it. Hong Hao said.

Compared with start-ups, The Korean technology company Hancom Group has a much larger team in Las Vegas this time, which means that the task of epidemic prevention and control is also heavier. Wu Taiyong, the company's head of sales and business development, told Xinhua that a total of 90 people came to Las Vegas from Seoul to participate in the exhibition. All the staff at the company's booth were "fully armed" and equipped with transparent protective face shields, medical masks, and latex gloves.

"CES is a stage to experience the latest trends and achievements in global technology, as well as an important platform for building partnerships and expanding overseas markets. The technology industry is changing rapidly, because we have been waiting for two years for the epidemic, and this time we must seize the opportunity. Wu Taiyong said.

As the world's largest consumer electronics exhibition, ces attracts journalists from all over the world to report every year, and some overseas journalists are also seen at this year's exhibition. Daisuke Igarashi, a San Francisco correspondent of Japan's Asahi Shimbun news agency, said that the headquarters sent a colleague from Tokyo to reinforce and report on CES this time, hoping to better introduce the latest developments and applications in the field of science and technology to the audience.

This year's CES was held in a combination of physical and online virtual forms, with more than 2,300 companies from all over the world participating in the exhibition, nearly halving the previous year. CES 2021 is the first time in more than 50 years since its inception that it has been held virtually in the form of a network, with more than 1,900 companies from all over the world participating in the networking exhibition.
