The compact, precise and economical ENGEL all-electric injector will be present at FIP 2022

The all-electric injection machine combines low energy consumption with the highest precision. At FIP 2022 in Lyon, France, april 5-8, 2022, ENGEL, a manufacturer of injection machines and a provider of system solutions, will demonstrate how to take full advantage of the advantages of all-electric injection machines in a cost-saving manner.

Many demanding components whose quality depends on the precision of the injection steps and the movement of the mold mounting template during the opening and closing dies make the all-electric injection machine the preferred solution for such applications, where cost-effectiveness is often a decisive factor in the customer's choice of machine. With the e-mac model, ENGEL has added to its portfolio an all-electric injection machine that combines high power and energy efficiency with an extremely compact machine design with a relatively low capital expenditure.

During the 4-day show, an ENGEL e-mac 465/180 injection machine with an integrated ENGEL viper 20 robot will demonstrate the performance that the series of machines can offer by producing a polypropylene breakfast box.

Full servo electric improves overall efficiency

Among the all-electric injectors on the market, the new generation of e-mac injectors is one of the most compact machines in the world, for example, thanks to the optimized elbow shape, the e-mac 465/180 machine on display at THE FIP show is 450mm shorter than the previous 180t model, while not reducing the mold opening stroke, thus ensuring a high output per unit area – an important efficiency indicator that many companies are concerned about.

All movements of the ENGEL e-mac injection machine, including the flex elbow movement and ejection, are performed by servo-electric drives, which means that the machine achieves an extremely high overall level of efficiency. If required, servo hydraulics can also be integrated into the rack without additional space.

The ENGEL e-mac injection unit has been redeveloped from the ground up with a focus on providing better power. It is available in 3 power types to precisely adapt the machine to the need to maximize overall efficiency.

In addition to precise motor movements, intelligent assistance systems such as iQ weight control and iQ clamp control in the iQ product range ensure high process stability and optimum process settings.

For precision molding with cycle times of more than 4s, e-mac injection machines are often the most economical solution in the field of all-electric injection machines, from technical molding, to packaging and medical technology components, to electronics, it is suitable for a wide range of applications.

Parallel motion results in shorter cycle times

The automation system in the production cell on display at FIP makes a significant contribution to the overall efficiency – an ENGEL viper 20 linear robot removes the breakfast box from the mold. ENGEL's viper series linear robots impress with their high load carrying capacity, high dynamics and minimal component operating times. With iQ vibration control software, they combine low weight with maximum stability and precision.

Since ENGEL alone can supply injection machines and manipulators, the control units of the two systems can be combined into one unit, thus eliminating the need for machine operators to be familiar with different operating logics, which simplifies the programming and control of complex machining sequences and reduces the risk of input errors. In addition to this, the integrated control unit can reduce cycle times for many applications. Since machines and manipulators have access to a shared database, the manipulator ensures the coordination of its own movements with the movements of the machines.

MES for novice and advanced users

At FIP 2022, ENGEL will also introduce intelligent connection solutions for connecting injection machines and production cells within the company. TIG authentig is a MES (Manufacturing Execution System) customized by ENGEL's subsidiary TIG, which meets all the specific requirements of the injection molding industry, even the smallest details, for example, it provides transparency for the use of the total capacity of the machine or the correlation of productivity indicators with economic objectives.
