The number and area of young industries exhibitions in 2021 ranked first among all industries

Recently, during the 17th China Convention and Exhibition Economic Forum for International Cooperation, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade released the "China Exhibition Economy Development Report 2021" (hereinafter referred to as the report), which pointed out that in 2021, the number of light industry exhibitions and exhibition areas ranked first among all industries, with 1224 exhibitions, accounting for 41.5% of the total number of known industry classification exhibitions; the total exhibition area was about 38.19 million square meters, accounting for 41.1% of the total area of known industry classification exhibitions.

The reporter checked the report and learned that among the 2949 economic and trade exhibitions held nationwide last year, the number of light industry exhibitions ranked first among all industries, heavy industry exhibitions ranked second, and service industry exhibitions ranked third. Compared with 2020, the number of light industry exhibitions increased by 412, up 50.7% year-on-year; the exhibition area increased by about 6.88 million square meters, up 22% year-on-year.

From the perspective of the number of exhibitions, among all the light industry exhibitions held in 2021, the number of food, beverage, tobacco and alcohol exhibitions is the largest, much higher than that of other sub-sectors; followed by furniture and woodworking machinery exhibitions; building materials exhibitions, consumer goods and beauty salon exhibitions ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively. Compared with 2020, the gift and housewares exhibition entered the seventh place, while the toy women's and children's products exhibition fell out of the top ten. Among the top ten light industry subdivision industry exhibitions, building materials exhibitions increased significantly year-on-year. Among them, a total of 254 food, beverage, tobacco and alcohol exhibitions were held, an increase of 64 compared with 2020, an increase of 33.7% year-on-year, still ranking first in the number of light industry exhibitions; furniture and woodworking machinery exhibitions held a total of 171, an increase of 85 compared with 2020, an increase of 98.8% year-on-year; building materials exhibitions held a total of 134, an increase of 79 compared with 2020, an increase of 22.9% year-on-year; consumer goods exhibitions held a total of 76, an increase of 26 compared with 2020. A year-on-year increase of 52%; a total of 58 beauty salon exhibitions were held, an increase of 13 compared with 2020, an increase of 28.9% year-on-year; textile industry exhibitions were held in a total of 48, an increase of 9 compared with 2020, up 23.1% year-on-year, still ranking sixth.

From the perspective of exhibition area, among all the light industry exhibitions held in 2021, the food, beverage, tobacco and alcohol exhibition area is the largest, the furniture and woodworking machinery exhibition ranks second, and the exhibition area of building materials exhibitions, consumer goods exhibitions and textile industry exhibitions ranks third, fourth and fifth respectively. Among them, the total area of food, beverage, tobacco and alcohol exhibitions was 7.864 million square meters, an increase of 2.429 million square meters compared with 2020, an increase of 44.7% year-on-year; the total area of furniture and woodworking machinery exhibitions was 5.22 million square meters, an increase of 617,000 square meters compared with 2020, an increase of 13.4% year-on-year; the total area of building materials exhibitions was 1.34 million square meters, an increase of 735,000 square meters compared with 2020, an increase of 22.9% year-on-year. Consumer goods exhibitions ranked fourth with 2.631 million square meters, an increase of 622,000 square meters compared with 2020, an increase of 31% year-on-year; the total area of beauty salon exhibitions was 1.828 million square meters, an increase of 29,000 square meters compared with 2020, an increase of 1.6% year-on-year.

In the light industry exhibition held in 2021, the 11th National New Year Shopping Festival and Sichuan (Luzhou) Spring Shopping Month and the 5th Food Festival (hereinafter referred to as the Spring Shopping Month) are the largest. The exhibition will be held from January 29 to February 7, 2021 in Southwest Trade City, China (Luzhou). The exhibition area is 450,000 square meters, of which the main exhibition area is about 20,000 square meters, with 500 international standard booths, and the sub-exhibition area is 430,000 square meters, with more than 8,000 exhibitors.

The reporter checked the data of the past years and learned that in recent years, the light industry exhibition is in the leading position in the whole industry in terms of both quantity and area. Zhao Ping, vice president of the Research Institute of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said in an interview with the Consumer Daily reporter that light industry is a typical consumer industry, and the number of exhibitions is very considerable. The exhibits of the light industry exhibition have many points to see and are regarded as a barometer for consumers. China's light industry exhibition economy will stand at a higher level, in order to expand the domestic and foreign sales channels of light industry products, promote industry industrial upgrading, enterprise technological innovation and brand building; promote the industry industrial transfer and effective cooperation between the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain and the exchange and cooperation between domestic and foreign industry enterprises; enhance the industry cohesion and influence of the association to play a very important role.

It is reported that in recent years, the China Light Industry Federation has vigorously supported industry associations to run 40 thematic exhibitions, run a number of important exhibitions and cultural festivals jointly held with local governments, effectively use the Internet, explore and carry out 10 network exhibitions, guide and support brand authorization exhibitions, organize associations and enterprises to actively participate in foreign exhibitions, and continuously improve the connotation and quality of exhibition services.
